I love how all the Liberal voters have Solar panels but don't believe in climate change but love government subsidies!

If some num-nut is going to create a stupid policy that allows me to have a $13.5K investment FULLY paid back in <2.5 years which then generates income for another 25 years - you would be plain stupid not to take it up!

My system generates savings/income >$5.5k per year - don't blame me ... I didn't vote the d$ickheads into office.

LOL I thought these policies were something the left believed in ?

Moods - don't tell me you were silly and didn't take the offer up

Strange comment as there is a whole lot more to it than just government subsidies, as I'm quite sure you are aware.

Greed is good ... sometimes.
Nothing to do with greed either.

For those who don't know that saying "vote early and vote often" can get you into trouble with the law. My partner does a long cut with the Senate voting by starting at the highest number and working up to number one position to try to make sure donkeys don't make it into high office.
The success of the solar scheme is quite interesting and shows that heavy subsidies can modify behaviour.
I am approaching the age where 13% pay any tax at all according to amaroo's numbers but only death or moving overseas could get me into the 87%.
Cutting our carbon footprint may be a good idea but I don't think any of us will really get to find out unless a time machine becomes a reality.

There are a lot of reasons for doing so even if it were not for Government subsidies or Climate Change.Have always been conscious of reducing pollution and conserving resources. For example I put in a water tank here on the Sunshine Coast when the council had made it illegal to do so.I risked a fine rather than a subsidy.

What is always missing from the numbers on percentages who pay tax is the percentage of income they earn. I can't imagine why such an important bit of comparative information is never presented.

Glad to see you didn't allow your principles, such as you objection to the government, stand in the way of profiting. Still for a program that did nothing, according to you, it sure did make you act.

I'm always keen to take advantage of a stupid decision - who wouldn't :what:

Just like the time you could pre-pay PHI.....that one got me an extra 18 months of rebates:D

Happy Days:cool:

Common-sense knows no party-political bounds, just politician bounds.

Squandering money is different to investing money.

Better start up a business to get some direct action money then.

SWMBO is CA specialising in tax and SMSF :D the wealth that can be retained by knowing the rules and having the right structure is unbelievable!

Tax law is the home of stupid decisions.

Like I said. The right structure will see the government hand you cash without having to do anything. Get in on the direct action rort.

Nah. I'm not greedy.....SMSF and the ATO plays will do us.

Jelly Fish an indicator of climate change.

Another example of China doing nothing about pollution. Just like the carbon tax did nothing in Australia.

Australian export risk on China dirty coal ban

The irony is of course that this will hurt coal exporters more than the carbon tax ever did. And yet another opportunity to lead the world in research and development of technology goes..slipping by.

So who profits from denying Climate change?

Our home electricity bill has dropped by about $1,000 every two months after doing quite a bit of changing what we use and how we use it as well as when we use it.The solar is really helping.

I am still amazed that people who have doubts about humans causing climate change are called climate change deniers.
I know it's changing, it's changed before, and it will change again. I am just not satisfied that the data is extensive enough to say that we are solely responsible.
The inconvenient truth is not that climate change is occurring , but that it has naturally been occurring for hundreds of thousands of years.
I have the good fortune to be personally acquainted with one of the panel of experts from the last round ( in Doha) and when I caught up with him in AKL recently, I asked him what the real story was. His reply was that the evidence is to limited in quantity and quality to make a truly effective assessment about human effects on climate change. Having said that, there is an urgent and important need to clean up our act with pollution, it is choking our water ways, ruining our air quality and generally a bad thing. The spin off benefit , may in fact be some positive benefits in other areas. So while I am referred to has a Denver ( untrue) I do strongly support a change in our ways to stop using the planet as a toilet.
