What cheeses me off

Something that cheesed me off while traveling recently was how everyone online referred to the international terminal as LAX as the "Tom Bradley International Terminal" or "TBIT". However, once we got to the airport, that name was barely mentioned anywhere. Instead it was just labeled Terminal B on most signage. Not the end of the world, but it's a big an confusing place for country bumpkins like me.

People who are too effing lazy to take their trolley back to the trolley bay in the supermarket carpark (it must have been all of 5 metres away) and then of course the trolley just takes off and belts into my car

Damage?😞

I had a little altercation with some old geezer in Henley Beach Foodland car park last week. Just walked a few steps them plunked it near to my car. I rolled the window down and told him to move it. He said some random nasty words and I just shrugged my shoulders with one of 'my looks' and he got out of his car to move it. Guess I can be scary sometimes.

I also saw similar happen at Burnside underground. They just let their trolley go and it took off and hit another car. Dented it. I wrote down the rego details and in a note explained the dent and left my phone number. They didn't call back so don't know the outcome.

Also while sitting in car the person next to me in red car opened their door into my car. I got out and started taking details. They were actually gobsmacked I'd do that, then tried to deny the red scar on my white car.

No damage to my car but there must have been about 6 there so I just put them all together

Odd meal timings on flights. 9am departure from Singapore to London. Served breakfast just after takeoff. Dinner served later but there's still 6 hours to run until London where we're scheduled with a 3pm arrival? And it's only just hit 4pm in Singapore and halfway through the flight.

Just weird...luckily I'm a greedy guts, I guess. Though I wish I'd skipped my fill in the lounge.

Airlines bringing flights forward to an ungodly hour.

I booked US domestic flights with a civilised 9:30am departure, timed perfectly to get me to LAX exactly when early check in desk opens for QF flight home. AA change departure time to 7am, meaning I'm going to have to wait approx 2hours landside in LAX to drop luggage (couldn't be checked through as on separate tix) and then will still have 9hrs in lounge.

I've had that with nearly every departure ex-LAX, it's not flying on to JFK by chance is it?

No flight was out of IND, had to checkout of hotel at 5am, as boarding time was 6:20! Now in DFW, probably should have asked for a later LAX flight out of DFW (as it has also moved forward 2 hrs).

Assuming QF12 leaves on time tonight, I will have been up for ~23 hours hopefully means I will sleep well for a good 8hrs of the 14 across the pacific.

I was very generous with my connecting times to allow for weather delays, it never occurred to me they'd pull flights forward so much.

I found this is an issue with AS. You book a well timed flight months in advance only to have it bought forward by several hours. Whilst you’re usually entitled to free change, the options are invariably worse. Earlier this year, our 09:30a flight SEA-JFK bought forward to 7:30a (at least we arrived early arvo in NYC). JFK-SAN 11:00a bought forward to 7:00a (change to a noon flight via SFO…).

Next week, YVR-SEA-BOI was 10am dep / arr around 2pm. Now departing 1pm / arr 6pm… These are not the 5 or 10 min tweaks you might see on QF…

Anyway, if you get bored at a LAX, there’s something new to do…

And just landed in LAX 40mins ahead of the revised earlier schedule. 11hrs and 50mins to kill argh. Where to wait until check-in opens in 2 hours time? I really should have called and delayed my dfw-lax. I loatheLA sono desire to pay to store luggage and go downtown.

Next time I will definitely hang out for direct flight from DFW where there are better East Coast and mid west connections.

ETA --> looks like it's 3 hours wait. Qantas don't get any check in real estate until all Avianca frees up the space.

I fly with AA at least once or twice a year (multiple flights each time) and they're notorious for it. I have a booking with BA though that was brought forward 8 hours! Yes, same flight number - so not a cancel and rebook. That one took the cake!

Yeah these were same flight numbers too. Multiple changes getting earlier each time.

I found a seat but am now held hostage by my bags until Aviance give up their check in counters to Qantas. Others on AFF said that is 2pm, but. Avianca say not before 3pm.

Very glad I used the facilities before baggage claim. Should never have broken my own rule which is usually to avoid the hell hole that is LAX (and Los Angeles in general).

One rule for LAX is not doing seperate bookings. Departing the US and transiting LAX (and the other ports) is a breeze with checked through luggage…

Well that wasn't an option as there weren't any domestic award seats so I had to purchase positioning flights separately. I usually avoid LAX at all costs and this is just reinforcing my belief that it's the world's worst airport operationally.

None of the airport hotels have any day rooms either.

I’m actually cheesed off that I’m not flying home from LAX this trip. We were booked YUL-ORD-LAX-SYD (all AA metal / but QF codes) then AA rejigged one sector that made it impossible. So it’s YUL-DFW-SYD.

Wow I'd choose DFW over LAX any day. DFW is so efficient in comparison, you are in lounge in minutes, LAX is one painful waiting game at every point. Mind you the new OWE check in at JFK wins hands down.

Lots of articles published earlier this year re Qantas check-in/bag drop from 2:30pm but that is all lies. Almost 3pm and no Qantas staff in sight.

As I've said before, I love the new LAX - and not just TBIT. Not saying its the best, but the facilities are great and I haven't had any issues with immigration (despite having a 'manual' B1/B2 visa) or customs since the redevelopment. I mean, airlines changing schedules isn't on the airport. 🤨.

The linking of all terminals airside is icing on the cake.

AA Dom -> AA/QF Int on one booking is really straight forward at LAX. No risk of changing terminals via skytrain etc. A short walk and you’re in the 1st Lounge. Don’t even pass through security again.

Pretty sure I checked in around 3pm for QF12 back in May.

Finally opened at 3:15pm, was first served and in the lounge by 3:25pm which is a miracle as earlier it was 1 hr to get through security.

QF lounge is nice but no spa like in Sydney nor day beds like JFK for a nap. But not sure it's worth the hassel and really late night departure.

WCMO is selfish smokers.

As a non smoker i am very sensitive to cigarette/cigar/vape smoke. Boarded QF12 about 20 mins ago, went to the toilet to change into my Qf PJs and it reeks like an ashtray. Someone on the incoming flight must have been naughty and lite up in the toilet and the cleaners haven't been able to get rid of the smell.

Hope the FAs knew who it was and reommend a lifetime ban. Filthy habit which has now interred with comfort of passengers on following flights.
