What cheeses me off

So Lion Air didn't cancel our flight they moved the 1:00pm flight to 5:10pm but had 11:00am, 1:30pm, 3:40pm, 6:00pm and 10:00pm available. I don't understand why they culled so many flights on that day when there are hardly any flights for sale almost 5 months out. I suspect buses and trains are going to be booked out months in advance.

Wife called their Bangkok contact centre yesterday and changed to the 11:00am flight free of charge so hoping no further drama.

insurance companies again. I noticed a $20 increase a month in our car insurance for a 2008 car. No claims - ever.

We had not received the renewal certoficate prior to the increase. I always ring around when I get it. Called them up and said oh yes our system says it was sent a month ago. It simply was not. I went through the spiel. Oh yes we can reduce it by - $3. They could not resend me the original renewal email 😉 so they could not tell me the original policy cost and the premium does not show on the certificate they finally sent me. Can I cancel? Ummm. Yes.

So did some searching. Can get a similar policy with BUPA for $400 a year less. BUPA has certainly lifted their game recently and they were the best for a recently purchased annual travel insurance policy.

Bought a Hisense flat screen TV for mum and dad Dec 2022 and it has stopped working. Lucky I bought Gold Service extras until Dec 2025.

My luck with appliances continues. Just because it's cheap should not mean it's junk. Surely you'd expect more than 20 months use?

WCMO is with the latest qf well being app update it somehow lost all my app permissions so haven't been earning an activity or sleep points for like 3 weeks grrrr

Pharmacists. Who assume that every Doctor (specialist) prescribes exactly the same way as others.

Yesterday I took in a new script for MrP. (He has had them before and always dispensed at this pharmac_). Thats fine. Returned home with the tablets but there were no repeat scripts paperwork in the bag. Took the receipt in today that had the script number and asked the reception person who had no idea and asked the pharmacist. I explained again and asked them to check if there had been an error made and the repeat documentation had been forgotten . Pharmacist - oh no, Doctors write only one script issued for this medication and no repeats. I said, well, this Doctor (specialist) issues two repeats. She basically went immediately back to her work and didn't even bother to answer. (This is our usual pharmac_ but they don't ever bother getting to know people). I knew I had another new script for this medication at home, but not on me so I couldn't do anything.

Checked the script at home - two repeats. How can they not even bother to check? I was watching them the whole time and they did not even check their records. They assumed.

Well, tomorrow or Monday they will find out never to make assumptions.

And lucky I'm not in Japan. Too soon @drron?

I believe Australia statutory warranty would be 2 years for a tv.

I never buy the extra warranty from retailers for electrical. Basically bs/rip off.

Yes, and even if Hisense have a one year warranty, there are reasonable expectations on product life provisions in most Australian consumer regulations and guidance. So even without the "Gold Warranty" fries, you should still expect repair/replacement after 20 months.

(To be honest, I'd expect same after 3 or 4 years.)

So Gold Service Extras is one year extra on statutory warranty. Not expensive but also comes with 3 x $20 shop credits each year for 3 years. A few times I've had 2 issued close to each other and used them together. But Good Guys is expensive anyway.

But regardless my last experience with LG fridge with Gold Service extras was not good. Basically sold a lemon and scared me away from service in that I may have to pay. Fridge works intermittently and we throw a lot of food away.

See how we go with TV.

I don’t believe the warranty is limited to two years for a tv. I thought it was dependent on a number of factors, including price and expected quality, based on brand, price, etc.

If I buy a $9,000 tv, I’d be going back to the manufacturer or retailer if it gave out after 5 years! Or even longer.

We had a miele dishwasher, I went back after 7 years for repairs under warranty. Customer service wasn’t interested, but their legal department approved it within 10 mins!

Ah ah - I had an even more amazing "warranty" issue with a Miele dishwasher - after nearly 10 years - major issue - could not get our regular Miele guy to look at it (he was on holiday) - had a third party which quoted over $1000 + 2 service calls and would not guarantee it wuold fix the issue. Put a post on the Miele FB page - saying Mr LL's birthday party was coming up next week and I was "stuffed" - abracadabra Miele sent someone out the next day with all the parts and it was fixed "under warranty". Years later it's still working.

I had another issue with an HP printer which died after the warranty expired - called the service centre and after a long discussion, I quoted the Australian consumer law stating it should be warranted for the normal expected life - next week a new printer arrived by courier. And then there was my LG stick Vacuum ..... after a similar discussion they sent a new battery free of charge ... still working.

Well done. If only that worked with QF!

Trying to do a Westpac balance transfer, contact details need to be verified, so verify contact details, try to do balance transfer, contact details need to be verified....

This goes on over and over. Who releases this junk to production?

If a bank ever says we're here to help, then run as far away as possible. We need to go back to providing customer service. This is not good enough....

Hertz Gold Plus Rewards. Changing to a hard expiry 5 years after earning. Can't use the points you do have. Trying a 4 day reservation and although I have 6500 points, it'll only let me apply 1 day at 1800. I'm going to lose 5800 on 31/12, so ..... I'd rather use them up even at an inflated rate of 1800/day on the 4 day rental for at least some of those days. but I can't.

@Flashback I hate Hertz with a passion. They stole 3 days car hire from me on points I had saved up for ages and support is useless and they just don't care.

I said never again to hire from Hertz but Rentalcars and QEEQ both have cars from Hertz at a significant discount so bite tongue.

I just go with whoever is cheapest these days. In Ireland, Sixt is dirt cheap, Hertz is 2-3x as much for a booking I have. In Spain, Hertz is cheaper, Sixt is 2-3x as much. Just varies really. Avis is rarely in the running, but sometimes they are, mainly Africa.
