What cheeses me off

So I got this email on Friday:

As a result I spent the whole weekend looking for this elusive replacement card (old one expiring)
Can't find it
Ring the card issuer and reported a lost card - an email said I should have received it.

The customer agent said that it does not mean you should have received the card. It only means that the card was sent.
🤣

We've been using Wise to transfer money to Thailand for travel expenses, help out family, building house and retirement.

The wise account is in wife's name as I don't want my name against the transfers. The money comes from my bank account using POLi and provide all the authentication that comes with POLi and money is taken out of account.

We've had no problem using this method until this year. First transfer of the year suspended and didn't see the email. Second transfer suspended but this time saw the email. Wise cannot match my wife's name and my bank account. Who cares? You've got POLi authentication and you've taken money.

They refunded the first transfer and we redid the transfer and lost AUD50+ as exchange rate dropped considerably. That transfer also suspended until we confirmed the account holder. Now the 3rd transfer has been suspended and I had to confirm the account holder again.

I bet it's the Australian government meddling again. Stop it. I do not want a Wise account in my name sending money to Thailand and I don't want an Australian bank account in my wife's name to transfer my money our money to it so we can do transfer.

Sheer stupidity.

I don't think you are actually sending money overseas to a Thai bank account.
There are strict rules surrounding money transfers especially into foreign currencies. I dont know what they are but thems the rules

Often they give you a rollaway.
Often is not my experience. More like infrequently and even they they sting you $60 a night*.

Specifically today I spotted a deal for from $299/night at Seaworld Resort including theme park entry.

Miss H has a birthday soon so, I tried for 2 adults, 3 children so she could bring a couple of friends. The extra children pushed it to almost $500 and it offered rooms with two double beds.

I called to ask and was told you can either "use the beds provided or we can provide a rollaway for $60/night".

Needless to say we're not going.

Probably best to look at holiday apartments or apartment hotels. The Gold Coast has many and the two bedroom ones usually have double/queen in one room and two twin singles or sometimes a single and bunk bed (sleeps 3) in the other. Then just buy discount theme park tickets through NRMA/RACV.

Of course there’s plenty of apartments, but that’s not the point.

If you’re an accommodation provider and a customer enters into your search field: 2 adults and 3 children, I think it’s reasonable to expect that the price shown will include bedding for five people.

Can you imagine entering those same details into an airline booking engine and having it return a price that only gives you four seats on the plane? Then at the airport you get charged extra for the fifth passenger?

It’s total nonsense.

We might do Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, or head north to Australia Zoo.

High tea, ten pin bowling, movies, mini golf, there’s plenty of options.

My point is, leisure is a highly competitive industry. In this case Sea World misses out of >$500 for accommodation and no doubt plenty more in overpriced food, because of a silly approach to room pricing.

And given their recent wave of adverse publicity, you’d think they’d be doing everything possible to improve their image and reputation.

What cheeses me off is ANZ Bank...
Applied for 'Black' credit card.
Went through all the online info requirements, giving bank statement, pay slips, etc..
Estimated my monthly expenditure on groceries, health, bills, personal, all the usual BS.
When you do all this, the system tells you once submitted, you cant add / change your info.
so get call from ANZ bank, and she wanted to confirm all the details I gave them...
BUT they are all on my application i thought to myself - spent 15 min going through everything.
In the end, she put me on hold, and after 1 min, tells me sorry, your application has been rejected.
WTF - so why go through all the BS on the phone, when you had my info already, and once submitted, cant change. The person on phone, without calling me and wasting my time, could have just told me i was rejected.
Anyway, surprised i was rejected - im on high salary. debt free, own my home, always paid credit card on time.

Yea, ANZ is becoming a nightmare to deal with. I have recorded my experiences in the ANZ Velocity card thread. In a nutshell - the agent wanted me to confirm what amount I had put. I asked her what it says in the application and asks her to read it for me. She did and I said I confirm!! I didn't know what the intention of this confirmation exercise was - but I'm sure they did not confirm what they wanted. If anything, I made them give out the number and I said that's the one!

They then wanted more docs - I still haven't got to sending it.

Take out a mortgage on your home, hide the cash you just borrowed under a mattress so it’s not deposited safely where they can see you can easily pay off the mortgage, and apply again; you’re not presenting much of a chance for them to get that juicy juicy 25% interest-rate on late card payments!
