What cheeses me off

Agreed, that is the case now. However I believed what I was told by someone that I considered knowledgeable in this area, i.e. a paramedic, but it seems that what I was told and what I thought was correct, is in fact wrong.

I’ll go stand in the corner and contemplate my navel, suitably chastised. :)

You can see your navel? :)

"Baby on board" stickers.

This does not give you the right to drive like a maniac.

Seriously though my daughter is 6 years old and I've never felt I needed a "Baby on board" sticker on rear window. What have I missed? Special discounts? No tolls? Free parking?

Blokes looking into your car, hoping you are a young Female.......

Airlines call you from an Unknown/No Called ID number, leave a voice message without the number to call them back ... #useless!
On the other hand #notascam. At least you know it is a legit call as any scammer that is semi competent would leave you a specific number to call back on, that of course doesn’t belong to the airline.

Trying in the supermarket to open a small bag, grab a little wet wipe and use that - beats spitting on fingers and then touching everything. Saw a man today who has an even more interesting innovation, he stuck his two fingers in his nostrils to access his mucus and opened the plastic bag that way.

Remind me to wear gloves next time I need to use a trolley or handbasket in a supermarket ...

I wipe down the handle of the trolley or basket with my own sanitiser before starting to shop. Not sure if it does anything beneficial but I feel better.:)
A bit less unseriously than the post of mine you replied to ... I was like that for a while after the start of 2020, but I've since gotten over it ... when the risk fades to back-of-mine I'm willing to ignore it. :)

'Help' bots. First want name, e-mail and phone, then cannot answer simple queries about the product, with no human coming on later.

Case in point. Grace Removals. Both their 1300 and 13 numbers nationally give an answer asking for a mailbox number. Thought I'd tell them about it. Well I did, but probably not in the way they'd like.

Double checking my utility bills yesterday as I thought they were unusually high. Many moons ago I ran a software company specialising in billing/rating systems so I have a fair idea of how unreliable end to end billing processes can be. Usually it’s an incorrect tariff applied, erroneous readings or some manual adjustment error.

Anyway, my electricity was $1170 and my gas $840. After calling and questioning, I asked for my accounts to be audited. 30 minutes of back and forth with the very helpful service agent and, voila, suddenly I’m owed $83 by them. Thats not $83 off the amount owing, that’s the final amount.…a $2093 turnaround. Turns out they’d failed to apply five successive “pay on time” discounts which they have now backdated.

Yes I’m happy with the outcome, but I’m cheesed off that in 2023 it takes the consumer to initiate such actions whilst these utility companies are reporting record profits. I’d hate to think how many less informed customers simply pay and trust it’s correct.

Isn't that the same as calling them to tell them the bill is too high and they put you on a lower rate?

So why did you wait for me to call to put me on a lower rate? How many people overpaying for all services? Society is really trying to go deeper and deeper into the pit that's being dug.

Not really.
My scenario involves questioning incorrect bills. A system/process error on their side.
Your scenario involves changing products. A choice on my side.
Not the same in any way.
I'm unsure what pit I am digging myself in to.

Woolies. Discount prices marked on shelves. Did a big shop today. Did self serve checkout. Of course the first discount price I scanned came in at the original price. Asked the attendant to check. He asked 'what do you want me to do". Sigh. How about making sure I'm not overcharged. I'd bought several of the items as they were heavily (60%j dis counted and we use them all the time. Cat food. Came back amd said yes and changed the price to correct one. A few more items then another discount one. Of course, wrong price again. He attempted To change the price by logging in and the system froze. I'd already scanned three bags of goods. He said, you will have to start again. I asked for more help and he called over the manager who said I was the second person where discounts hadn't scanned. She took all my bags and we went through another checkout. I'd packed my stuff in separate bags as they were for two different places. Ok. Repack again. Eventually Store manager came over and said 'yeah, we were told of the issue this morning. The discount prices aren't showing on scanned but when you come to pay the discount shows.' yeah. Right. in total 10 items scanned incorrectly.
