Surely the default response should be "let me find some space at the back of the plane for your family..."

This one always stumped me.

Couple split up with one allocated 6E and the other allocated 28D. Why would they ask 6D if they could move to 28D and not offer 28E a swap to 6E so they can sit together?

Don't bother pre-allocating seats and then look to get best possible seats.

Yes and on some non LCC airlines you have no choice of seating even if you could pay. just found out another problem with EK sale business fares. Not able to select seats until 48 hours from flight time. So right on 48 hours I went to select our seats. On the SIN-DXB segment on a 777 there were only 2 J seats available. And yes the worse case scenario only E seats. So middle seat of 3 in the middle on a 2-3-2 J cabin. pick row 8 or 10.
So my dipping the toes into the MEA airlines has already had it's first casualty. No more EK for us

Not Medibank Private. I'm a 'Priority Member' (not sure if that's 'status' because lots of claims, or long time in the fund ...) with its own phone 'priority' phone number. Usually answered 5 mins or so, but one of 15 minutes I recall.

No not on the Business sale fare. It said seat allocation at 48 hours and that was just after booking. And same for mrsdrron when she had her WP number in. I am just a lowly QP lifer.

Might I suggest @mrs.dr.ron as the WP call Emirates and ask. You never know.

If booking the QF code share the WP status should help be eligible for seat selection, but on these new lite fares I'm not sure you are eligible on the EK flight number, given EK isnt One World just a partner airline.

The QF site says you don't get it on the QF code.

I've got a Y award on EK and I can select seats.

Last week a new ALDI store opened at our smallish local shopping centre. Since then it is the fullest I have seen the shelves on the Coles and Woollies stores in that centre for about 3 years. Most of the normally half empty shelves were suddenly fully stacked. Surely the threat of competition has not had an effect on the other two shops?

As an aide my wife noticed Coles staff telling people not to take Coles trolleys unless they were going into the store. Apparently people were using those trolleys to avoid having to fool around with unlocking the ALDI ones.

A bit like Canberra - was always difficult to get a taxi at Jolimont Centre after the Murrays coach from Sydney - the day the Ubers were allowed, suddenly a whole line of taxis waiting outside the centre!

I didn't have any problems adding my QFF number to my EK coded booking

Remember the WP and SGs on EK get priority as on other airlines. I suggest you are being a little harsh on EK, depending on the conditions of your fare. Call them. I’ve always found the call centre very responsive, much better than QF or SA.

But I presume you didn't have a skywards number in first. It says you can edit and I did select QF as my program and put my QFF number in. hit save and it defaulted to EK* and my QFF number and message that it cant't be saved.

Yes I put in QF first.

Although now you mention it, this exact thing has happened to me on QF, putting in a BA number and trying to change it to QF. Website wouldn't let me.

Had to call QF, but it was an easy fix.
