What cheeses me off

Actually the rent paid by the Electoral Commission is much appreciated by the schools.
And I believe lots of teachers work on election day.

I get that the AEC would pay rent - but are you sure the NSWEC does?

Seems within the power of the NSW government to direct its schools to open for its EC. The other common category of polling places is local council facilities, which are also under the control of the NSW government.

I drove all the way to Tweed to vote (hadn't got around to changing my enrolment yet) and no sausages on offer! I was livid!

I stopped at Bunnings when back in QLD to get a sausage (which is also a fundraiser)
Bunnings mandates that the sausage must be rubbish, by limiting price … either polling place I choose is MUCH more satisfying/tasty in terms of Democracy Sausage than the Bunnings variety is going to be!!

I mustard mitt I didn’t look into early or online voting this time, as I was hankering for that Democracy Sausage …

Does Deliveroo deliver democracy sausages?

If it's not the cheapest Woolies sausage on the cheapest white bread with ETA BBQ sauce, I'm not interested...

Democracy sausages and home baked goods are usually quite lucrative for the school's P&C. The AEC pay a small fee for the use of the school's facilities, but unless the school has a hall, it's a PITA, because a classroom has to be completely reorganised to accommodate it.

Every couple of months I make use of some health fund extras benefit and have a massage at one of the shopping centre providers. Over the past year or so, they’ve been charging extra for the option of oil being used. For the last two times I have declined to pay extra for the oil and indicated I’m happy not to have it but if the massage isn’t up to standard, I wouldn’t be back. I told them if oil is a necessity it should be included in the price. The receptionist mentioned if I expected the cost to be covered by her meagre pay and they’d have to put the prices up. Doh. They’ve used oil each time
What do other people think about this tactic of the massage place? It cheeses me off!

Go elsewhere

Its like say its x dollars but ……you have to pay to use the loo, the glass for your water, the tea bag for the ‘erbal tea

Much as I sympathise with the receptionist this is an employee’s market at the moment - call IR or find another job. PS - her vocalising this (even if true) is unprofessional

PS - I am assuming it is the therapeutic variety massage!

Haven't checked the hourly rate of ad hoc "call in" AEC or the state system's on call/call in staff hourly rate, but its supposed to be worth while.
The handling out of how to vote cards, that side is unpaid, but have done that for 10 odd years, that one is hard.
Edit: $457.44 per day, for a NSW council election, about $50 per hr on an 8 hr day, probably more with a state election.
Mmm, indeed its a good earner.

Cars that assume you are the reason why speed might be restricted and so then go to pass you, and then find out there is a row of cars ahead of you. So they cut in front of you, just because they can't proceed further. Dude, there was a reason why the traffic is slow!

Cars that are doing 10 k under the speed limit until you move to the overtaking lane to pass only for them to speed up and move up to the speed limit.

Cars that overtake, usually with distant oncoming cars that then have to cut in to get out of the way, then proceed to travel at a lower speed than what you were doing 🤦‍♀️

Cars that travel in the overtaking lane at the same speed as the car they should be overtaking.

Cars that overtake you then immediately cut in (when there's no need to do it quickly, there is a double lane highway) causing you to slow down to increase the gap.

Can you tell I've been on the motorway today?

Agreed, it’s not the car’s fault.
And drivers in this country have gotten very very obviously worse in the last 3 years.
