What cheeses me off

Driving down a really busy section of Albany Highway and a Mercedes sedan decides he wants to reverse into a parking spot. We had many cars backed up and I was too close for this person to attempt it. Had to give the driver a toot to get moving forward.

Cars that assume you are the reason why speed might be restricted and so then go to pass you, and then find out there is a row of cars ahead of you.
Cars don't assume anything. Drivers on the other hand....
Cars that are doing 10 k under the speed limit until you move to the overtaking lane to pass only for them to speed up and move up to the speed limit.
Good, if they stop at the speed limit I'll be easily past them.

My pet hate is really anyone who sits in the right lane. I don't care if your speedo says 110 km/hr. You're really only doing 103 km/hr, 'cos the government/car companies/police effectively lowered the limit by ensuring all speedometers over-read by about 6%.

I've been in the habit for 4 decades of always personally calibrating a newly aquired vehicle or after putting on new tyres.

100Kph for 5k should take 3 minutes on the dot.

Find a freeway with light traffic where you are confindent the 5k posted distances are reasonably accurate (or 10Km and 6 minutes).

I think it's only 3 km down. But agree that no one should be in the right lane unless overtaking. And would therefore be at least around speed limit.

Easier to use a GPS app or a dashcam that displays speed from GPS.

I have found that 3 kph or maybe a touch over but <4kph, seems to be the most common over-registering with my recent vehicles.

ā€¦ā€¦. is having verify i am not a bot every time I try to load any web page when connected to WiFi in Conrad Shanghai:

On that very topic of Conrad Shanghai I have been here now for 19 hrs and I am still trying to find something positive to say about this hotel - operations are not a patch on what it was as Le Meridien pre Covid

And drivers in this country have gotten very very obviously worse in the last 3 years.
Not only in this country. When I travelled to UK last year drivers there had become noticeably worse than they were in 2019 also. Maybe it was a pandemic that caused this?????? šŸ˜‰

There's a car 2km ahead. I'm overtaking.

I hate people that just sit in right lane all the way. Selfish.

And I hate convoys in right lane. I come up against a slower car and cannot get into right lane to overtake because of everyone playing follow the leader in right lane with no room to manoeuvre as they're all too close to each other.

Hired some suits recently for my sons to go to school formal. Advertised and quoted price was approx $160ea. So far so good. Selected suits and filled in the paperwork.

Suddenly there was an additional $15/person charge. I asked about this and it was a damage charge in case of any buttons come off etc. So I asked if there was no damage do I get the $15/person charge refunded. Was told, 'No, its non-optional and really covers dry cleaning etc'.

So if its non-optional, why isn't suit hire advertised as $175ea???

I hate non-optional hidden charges and feel like I'm being taken for a ride. It really feels like a 'bait & switch'!

People wanting to be spoon-fed.

For example, in the QF DSC thread: ā€œsuggestions for how I can get 360 SC?ā€

Yep, I do have a suggestion: read the thread! including post 1 which is an AFF article with many suggestions.

And while Iā€™m on a rant: posts asking a question that was comprehensively answered just a few posts earlier.

In a similar vein we were looking at a portable house build for second property. Priced and advertised from $180k for single to $220k plus for double. We looked through the display home advertised for $180k. Sounds reasonable and looked great so we spoke to the salesperson . Oh, you also need to pay $25k for offsite build. Okay..also, to actually have a functional house like you just saw, it will cost an extra $100k (ie, electricals, plumbing, tiling, second fixings, oven). At which point we left wondering what we were actually buying for $180k. That was two years ago. We still don't know but they still advertise the $180k price.

Almost too late.

That was a joke Joyce and I'm not interested in giving Qantas any more money to maintain status. I'm LTG and that will do me because I won't be flying Y internationally ever again

Okay, Iā€™ll bite. Just to amuse the onlookers.

Posts that repeat a post made two posts earlier. ;)
