What cheeses me off

Thanks @Cruiser Elite
Good thread.
All of the above plus:
- parents who think their child should be free to use their device at Volume 10 in the business lounge but no headphones
- parent of said child loudly ‘closing the deal’ whilst phone glued to ear
- the idiots who only start the slow security strip tease - when they get there - and carry all metalware in a variety of pockets (clearly not washed since petrol was below a dollar a litre as they keep finding new locations as the detector beeps)
- Alan Joyce

Supermarket shoppers who only scan their loyalty cards when it's time to pay at manned checkouts, and they're not the type who need to decide which family member's account to use depending on the final amount

Those dreadful christmas cards from acquaintances with ‘the letter’ that declares
Child A got into Havard, child B has found cure for cancer, child C just got an international recording deal, partner’s brilliance is finally (and long overdue) being recognised by the firm and I simply cannot find the time to relax as I am sooooo busy … wonder what happened to child D?

😂😂😂😂😂😂 the last line! Awesome!

What cheeses me off is missing a bus/train because they have left early and the next scheduled service is delayed.
I called up Transport Canberra last week when I kept running into similar situations. The R3 service to the Airport leaves my stop 3 minutes early. It is supposed to arrive at 1435 and depart 1436. But the driver passes the stop at 1432 and doesn't stop because there was no one waving down the bus or no one in the bus is requesting a stop.

I will be walking to the stop, only to the see bus pass by 3 minutes early, each day, in a given week. I called up Transport CBR and reported that this is happening every day and a lot of people are missing their bus.

The lady on the phone apologised and took a complaint. The bus has been on time, so far, after that call.

Does TripView work in Canberra, or is there an alternate available which will give you an exact location of the bus & it's current arrival time at your stop?

I find that having that info is just nice to know, as well as being helpful for making connections eg. knowing whether you're going to make it in time for the optimal connection or if you'll miss that so you stay on the bus-or-train 'til the 2nd-best option. Thinking about it, it'd be nice if it had flights (inc. up-to-date timing) as well, so the info's all in the one app & shown on the one map ...

I thought TripView was NSW & VIC only ... From memory, NSW version works find. VIC is a bit hit/miss. Let me check if ACT has one.

Google maps has this feature. I have used in in NSW, but not in ACT. Will try.

Update : Yes, Google Maps has this feature. Just looking at R3 cruising past Calvary Hospital, but I'm in the city :)

That is so true. There have been times when I'm halfway in a bus, look at the time and decided to get off the next stop and take an Uber to the airport. Also, during monsoon weather, the bus doors jam and will not close. The bus driver can't proceed because an open door is a safety issue. So I request the next stop, book an Uber.

The Next Bus app shows the each bus arriving at a stop but sometimes can be a bit hit and miss - for example showing 8 mins, 7 mins then 1min. Also for some reason a particular bus will disappear from both the app and the ACT transport site (NXTbus) altogether and then turn up at the usual time.

Don't you hate public transport time-travel & wormholes?!

What cheeses me off is constant flight delays.

I've had 2 flight delays today and I'm only flying one flight. ;)

Qantas, Virgin, Rex et al adopting all the wrong parts of Jetstar’s traditional business model?

My last flight was cancelled…
Let's see if I got this right. I had one flight today.

- Original flight QF549 delayed
- Delayed again
- Offered flight 2 flights earlier QF545 at check-in
- Delayed
- Delayed again
- Cancelled and sit tight we will rebook you
- Now on QF547 and go to service desk for new boarding pass but seat not confirmed on standby (Huh!) Yeah go to gate and wait for no shows. No.
- How about original flight QF549 only middle seat. No.
- Now on QF551 in aisle seat with blocked middle but was already delayed
- Delayed again
- Delayed again
- Board and another 30 minute delay

Finally landed at 10:20pm almost 3 hours later than original flight scheduled arrival. I've been travelling seriously since 2007 and have never seen anything like this. Ever....

Clubs/community groups/associations whose Secretary sends out emails to all members with recipients in the ‘to’ line rather than the ‘bcc’ line 😡

Then the recipients who ’reply to all’ with ‘Thank you Jessie’ or the like 🙄

And then there is the Secretary who sends out monthly notices in Word, with pasted images, such that it's 12MB or so ( rather than a PDF) - when you've shown then how to send the much smaller PDF version.

What cheeses me off - is why it takes 3 days for funds transferred via BPAY into my St G CC takes 3 working days yet payments to AMEX Plat via BPAY are overnight!

What cheeses me off is trying to remember, or not know in advance, which combinations are the fast ones and which combinations are still the antiquated slow ones.
