What cheeses me off

Inconsiderate cough who book a day tour then fail to be at the designated pick-up point on time inconveniencing those who bothered to wake up on time.

Then guide who waits 20 mins instead of leaving per schedule (after 5mins) only to eventually call the laggards whi decide its too early and not bother.
It's so infuriating isn't it!

I run workplace training, and deal with latecomers this way:
1. at the appointed start time, I thank the punctual.
2. I suggest a 5 min courtesy wait, saying something like "how about we wait 5 mins in case they just had a bomb go off in their email, and then, out of respect to the punctual majority, we will start". And then I do start at the end of that time, regardless of whether anyone else has arrived or not.
3. when laggards join, I acknowledge them, but make no effort to catch them up at that point (wastes everyone else's time going over work we already did) unless the laggards specifically ask, and then I offer to do it at lunch/ end of the day - and surprise surprise, less than 10% ever bother giving up their own time to make up missed content.

I wish more tour guides took a similar approach - the chronic lateness of group members is one of the reasons Mr Seat 0A and I now hardly ever take group tours and are still considering whether we would want to take a cruise.

Grrrr. Multiple power blackouts in the apartment block over the weekend and blew out the buildings internet satellite, inc Foxtel et al, amd the only garage door.

Re updates, my windows 10 laptop is very cunning, it at some times, when its download time, will just stop everything I am doing, will not let me proceed, and then the update message comes up, update % starts, and then "do not turn off computer".
What ever button I press, nothing is allowed to happen till that update gets done.

I believe you can make a setting that updates take lowest priority on resources. Dunno if it works though. :)

Bars and restaurants allowing smoking inside in Croatia. Went into one, it was like going back 40 years in Australia. It stinks…….

Experienced this in restaurants in Noumea recently, revolting, although was fortunate to not have the issue in Croatia, maybe i just picked the right restaurants.

Smoking still allowed in many bars/restaurants in Thailand.

The smell is filthy but luckily the Golf Group's shop front is mostly open so I sit near the open windows and people watch while having a drink or 2.

Or even better - when Windows checks for Windows 11 eligibility and proudly tells you that the specifications for your laptop are inadequate to install Windows 11................... and then attempts to install Windows 11 anyway, every time you shut down.

Absolute muppets working for Microsoft.

Yes. Try developing software against a moving feast of new young idiots who can't find and fix old bugs but just introduce new "enhancements" that don't work or counter previous "standards".

I bought petrol last week from Woolworths Petrol. Checking credit card statement and I see a charge from EG Group. So I have to go to Google to look up EG Group and find its a British company that owns Australian petrol stations amongst other things.

Why not just have Woolworths Mt Ommaney on credit card statement to make it easy instead of meaningless trading names? Too difficult to do?

Is one of the multiple-choice answers Something To Do With Tax Minimisation?

Lazy courier drivers.

After losing my sunnies in Noumea i ordered 3 new pairs online to replace them with the intention of only keeping 2 (since online so much cheaper than my optometrist). All to be delivered to my PO Box.

All 3 are coming from 3 different warehouses. Pair #1 delivered sucessfully by DHL on Monday and i collected last night.

Pair #2 sent by another courier (cant find name on tracking email), i get an sms stating no one available to accept package at 11am today (a lie as post office was open) so they have left it at some random BP servo for me to collect. I thought it was a scam sms at first but my name and tracking # were correct. No number to call and i did not give permission for my package to be dumped at a random servo no where near where i live. Driver obviously couldnt be bothered to try and do his job.

Company called to advise a delay to pair #3 as they have to order more stock, offered a refund or change of style, i said no i will wait for new stock. Then told them to make sure not to send via courier company #2 and also to advise i have no way to collect pair #2 from a servo so please give me a refund and stringly suggest that they not give that lazy company anymore business.

If the courier cant/wont deliver to a PO Box then dont accept the job, dont assume people have a car and can drive to another suburb to track down a package they paid to have delivered elsewhere.

What cheeses me off... Companies hiding behind poorly designed technology in post COVID era to not fulfil their promises.

From Qantas to Woolworths to to Telstra to Coles I have constant missing entitlements and wrongly applied discounts, after keeping up my side of the bargain and spending what I need to in order to qualify, I have to constantly chase them up by being on the phone during business hours (since they all abandoned conveniences like chat / email support post pandemic) as if it is my day job.

An example of this is that Woolworths have ongoing issues crediting bonus points for buying gift cards via their app, yet they constantly advertise 1600 point promos for $250 gift card purchases that never credit. How is that okay? You need to wait 2 weeks to even have them follow it up since that is their self mandated wait period, so despite knowing it won't happen you need to sit it out, after remembering to check in the first place that it credited, then after 2 weeks you call them and they will ask you to prove that their own promo even existed so you'll need to make sure you kept evidence of that, too.

The worst part is I know it looks better on their bottom lines since most people won't bother, so there is zero incentive for this to change, unless they start getting hit hard with penalties for false advertising
