What cheeses me off

FWIW, at least in Victoria, a driver can be booked for "speeding" when travelling at a speed which, while being under the maximum posted allowed speed, the speed of travel is at such a speed as may be deemed excessive due to prevaling travel conditions.
Yep, same in NSW too (although there’s still an upper limit you can’t ever go above).
They use that rule to assign “speeding” as a cause of most crashes, and thence justify policing only of the speed limit (because that “polices speeding”) even though most fatal crashes occur at under the limit. “They” being the pollies that bring this stuff in to appear to be doing something.
Hooh boy there’s some cheesing there …

It does not actually lock the wheels. The grooves of the travelator fit the splines of the wheels which causes the splines to fall into the groove so the wheels never touch the bottom. Adjacent to the wheels is a flat bit which rests on the travelator. This stops the trolley from sliding on the travelator - to allow it to go up and down inclined travelators without having to hold on to it.
Yeah the “proper” setups have normal “fat tyres” (heh) at the front.
Actually I suspect the particular one that annoys me regularly prolly locks all 4 ‘cos it’s inclined & they’ve done it for extra grip.

Take the lift?
Is that a direct segue from the travelators moving too glacially slowly, to add an example of something slower? :)

Where in T5?

BA First Wing last September (used it twice on my trip) didn't have to remove anything.
Are you sure it wasn't Priority Security nera the First wing? First wing security absolutely requires you to take everything out, I use it every other week and that's been the case .......
At LHR that is basically the BA terminal. (Although ISTR some IB flights it as well.
Yes, IB are moving back there shortly (from T3).

Yes but BA First Wing has dedicated security - that's what I was asking - vs the regular security point.

Perhaps they had decided to just not do security scanning that day, as in 30+ visits over the past year that's not happened once.

I'm only reporting on my experience.

They're about to remove the liquid restrictions altogether so things are always changing in this space.

#WCMO is having to use coins while travelling.

Years ago arrived at Gare du Nord (before contactless) . Tried to use luggage carts. Required € coins. Of course no coins as a I had paper money. #RCMO

Where in the world are coins still required to facilitate travel. Might even be laundromats

WCMO is conflicting reports of what actual security scanners are used at quite specific points. If I remember, I’ll post my experience at LHR T5 “First“ security in a week or so. Meanwhile, this thread will probably have moved onto something discussed in page 2 of 113 😂.

Waiting for vehicle and it's on a ship (I Think it's this one as the VIN has been registered with the AU govt on the day it docked in Melbourne

Not expected to dock until after weekend of June 10 apparently

Well, I was one of those people who cheeses me off at security screening. I'd repacked my checkin and carry on bags, for a short stopover to KL from LHR last week, putting in carry on those things I'd need for KL hoping to keep checked in bag closed for the stop over. I'd put the medications bag into HL. Which of course contained scissors. Doh. Also in another bag I'd taken the large shampoos from the ship and had put them in shoes to make sure they didn't get squished. Thought I'd off loaded them all to DIL in UK but of course, I missed one. Both of which were picked up at security screening. Felt a right idiot. And I was so cheesed off with myself.

What have you found re assistance to LHR central station?
Sorry - have only just seen your query. It's the Central Bus Station I'm wanting to get to. I've done it many times before - long corridors, some with travelators, a lift at some point to change levels - but have found no info on whether LHR wheelchair assistance is available either to or from there. It's possible that the coach I'm on may drop me off at T2, but it certaily doesn't pick up from there, only at the bus station.

At T3 premium security line on 25/5 the protocol varies within minutes. As always I signalled to the agent at the Xray that i had a metal knee and asked if I could go through the body scanner. he said come through here first so i did. The alarm goes off and I am then told to take my shoes ,belt and watch off which he placed in a tub and they had to go through the luggage scanner. Then I am told to go through the body scanner. It was all clear but I then had a thorough wanding and pat down. As I entered the body scanner an older woman set off the alarm. Now she was wearing shoes and a large watch. didn't have to take them off was wanded and on her way whilst I was having my patting session.

I think I can say that LHR security checks are consistently inconsistent.
But at least this time I wasn't taken to a room and told to undress and then patted down. And I was only transitting LHR that time with a change of terminals.

I guess you missed the first line of my post

I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT CYCLISTS
I am talking about cyclists. It was right there in my post.

I'm going to guess all the cycling posts have been deleted.
At risk of being bad

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS MINIMUM SPEED LIMIT. That's why there are overtaking rules.

Of course, the rule is about Unreasonable Obstruction

As long as other drivers are not obstructed, you can drive any speed (below the limit).

And picking up the driving to conditions stuff raised in thread. A driver can obstruct other drivers by driving slow if it is reasonable. i.e. driving slow in fog because it is dangerous to drive any faster.

Fun and games at Manchester airport in security departing for homeward journey. In FAST TRACK thankfully or else who knows how long it would take.
No sequential passenger processing of bags
Instead we each line up behind five spots and as free containers appear for your section you load each item into one
This results in everyones bags going through scanner all mixed up
Coat -one container
Handbag - one container
So between husband and I we had six
Thank God nothing beeped as we walked through scanner
Now the fun begins….
‘Cleared’ bags appear on one side of the conveyer belt.
Ok
On the other side four of our bags need further review - each one collected by a different operator who shouts out ‘who does this belong to’?? The section covers a massive area and its scary trying to make sure none of your bags go missing as they disappear all over the place.
The phone chargers were ‘suspicious’ and my inhaler was not put in as liquids (I thought medicine did not need to be.)
Everything then swabbed and we then lug these containers of our disgorged hand luggage to repack elsewhere.
Good thing we had so much time
Oddly leaving UK no secondary passport control whatsoever.
I have never had this type of security experience before
Sounds awful @MARTINE. It's so stressful trying to keep all your belongings in sight.

but the system quickly turns to cough with the kitchen sink brigade using 2 or more trays…
You don't have to be the kitchen sink brigade to use 2 or more trays. I usually need 3 or more as follows:
1 for my overcoat
1 for my handbag and scarf
1 for my carry on

and sometimes they make me put my scarf in separately so that makes 4, just for me.

# WCMO are people who only engage their brain when they are at the front of the security queue.
Oh this cheeses me off too! And there is one in front of me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

I don't include people like the elderly, or those with small children in my scorn here as I know it can be difficult and confusing if you don;t travel often or have little ones to keep out of trouble :) . But honestly people, it should not come as a total surprise that there is a security check coming after you have stood in a long queue to get to the check point, and watched many others in front of you do their thing.... "oh I did not realise that I too would have to remove my coat and get out my LAGs!"
