I used a platinum complimentary upgrade Friday.
Two points.
1. I had 4 x complimentary upgrades and 1 x bonus complimentary upgrade before requesting upgrade. Complimentary upgrades have expiry of October some time, the bonus one had an expiry of 14 August.
Why did my bonus upgrade disappear, and also one of my 4 complimentary upgrades. Basically, you have taken two upgrade credits for one upgrade.

2. I was credited with Y Flexi SC, from what I understand, upgrades have been paying at upgraded J SC rate, please advise what the story is.

I really am a bit dissapointed that they have taken 2 Upgrade certificates off me, as I only upgraded one sector, I also would have upgraded with points if the certificates were not going to award the J SC.

Thanks in advance for the response

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for the heads up on point 2. I'll save the comp upgrades until after June and use points before, with that being the case. I though they all dropped into the same fare class and hence same terms/deals?

EDIT: I wonder if a 'correction" has been made to all upgrades?

Or its a quirk limited to the MEL Lounge ODU pilot.

Shouldn't you be happy with getting the SC you paid for? Or does it only apply when others get a little bit of gravy for free?

Is that comment really needed??? Nobody compained about getting additional SC, or lack thereof ...<redacted> ... when a legitimate question has been asked, and information shared.

Sadly not, this was a MEL ODU :(

Umm, my comment was it could be related to it being a upgrade done as part of the pilot hence not getting the same treatment, so I don't understand your sadly not response?

What booking class was shown on your BP?

By the T&C'sof the promotion, if Z then you should have received Business SC's.

http://www.velocityrewards.com.au/c...n-reward-seats-terms-and-conditions/index.htm

*To be eligible for this offer, you must book and travel on a Virgin Australia (VA) marketed and operated flight in a Reward Seat Fare Class (X, P or Z) between 13 January and 30 June 2013, and all flights must be booked and ticketed directly by Velocity Frequent Flyer (featuring a ticket number beginning with "795"). Economy Reward Seat bookings will earn Status Credits at the Discount Economy rate, Premium Economy Reward Seat will earn at the Premium Economy rate and Business Reward Seat will earn at the Business rate.

And Sadly I do not understand your point, nor the infraction I copped, yet the comment that provoked my statement is still there. Consistancy - NOT
You stated, perhaps it is related to the MEL ODU, and I informed you it was a MEL ODU so, obviously its not related to that. Im sure someone will have a cry and call this statement bullying and slap me with another infraction

Sorry MarkD, comment wasn't directed at you. Just thought it was amusing that a someone complained in another thread about people getting something for nothing then came into this thread and wanted something for nothing themselves. Anyway, probably unnecessary.

FYI for anyone interested, it booked into J class on BP.
I dont know what that means, obviously J class is Business, but what that means in terms of SC I am unsure. Velocity rewards has the details, will kindly follow up and will let us know in due course

I was referring to the fact the pilot program of ODUs in the lounge may to be resulting in not the same process as other upgrades, hence the result you experienced re loss of upgrades and SC as if its a J booking.

That would come down to the definition of the word "book." As I read it, MarkD booked into a flexi fare class but travelled on a Z class fare.

I've always assumed that the "upgrades yielding J SCs" thing would go away and it looks like it might have now done so.

The fact that it IS a MEL ODU would suggest that this situation very well could be something that is unique to the MEL ODU trial. So it seems vastly more obvious that the lack of earning might be related to that unique upgrade process at MEL. I really do not know why the suggestion is so hard to understand.

In any case, the business points earning for upgrades have been handed out for Z fares as per the one off promotion. Many people I'm sure view this as some sort of mistake. Now you have a J fare as per the published complimentary upgrade rule you would earn as per the booked fare class being flexi not business. It is not a Z fare and hence you don't trigger what many view as a loophole on the classic earning promotion.

Hi Serfty, it booked into J class, I have no idea on ticket number, I only have a BP, and cant find the tkt number on that. ...
Yon BP will have the actual booking class as single letter on it, both on the 'stub' and on the main part (unlike Qantas who have this "mushroom" philosphy and just show Business or Economy.)

It could be Z, C, D, J etc ...

Worked for me last week using a 'comp'. To be honest, to apply an upgrade is to (re)book - and that's the way it has been posting.

Certainly the comp upgrades previously didn't earn Business SC/points.

I had assumed they were only earning at present as they book into the Business Reward bucket, and Virgin has the promotion to 30 June that these earn SC/points.
Certainly this has been the case for me (four times in the past month)

----

As for the 'normal' comp-upgrades.

As a two year WP, and at least 30+ flights in Economy, even when Economy is near totally full and business is empty, I have never had a truly comp-upgrade from Virgin.
