What I ate today - the food thread

I didn't eat this but a friend posted this picture of her daughter's wedding cake today - wedding in London. I think its meant to be a bit goth?

This was from a recent lunch in Glen Waverley. Sadly they were looked better than they tasted :( (aka I've had too many awesome dumplings that good is not good enough):

And this was breakfast - a cafe in the old stadium in the area. Beef cheek on a macaroni cheese rosti with a sriracha hollandaise and poached eggs:

Which dumpling place?

Google tells me it was Paradise Rd - it was in the main Glen Waverley shops area.

Other place ace was The Last Piece cafe - Mulgrave. In the area again this week for work so hope to have a repeat visit.

Dinner was a very satisfying goulash (Bill Granger's recipe) with buttered pappardelle. And washed down with some Curly Flat Williams Crossing Pinot.

Very very tasty.

P1050365.jpgPulled Pork and rice with beans from "Rasta Pasta" - a Jamaican/Italian food cart at a street market in Kensington Market District- Toronto. Just down from a couple of Cannabis Dispensaries and with a few joints being smoked on the street.

This photo is from last year - but a very memorable meal for me. A friend was building a shack on a tiny slivet of an island off the north coast of Colombia - sort of near Cartagena. I went there to help him a couple of days. There is no power, nothing, very primitive. I slept on the beach. And in the morning breakfast was this - a big chunk of deep-fried parrotfish, patacones (fried plantain), a squeeze of lime, and a cup of milo. May have been my hunger, but possibly the best breakfast I have EVER had! (and I have done the eggs benny at the QF Sydney Flounge :) )

It is a very interesting area - ver alternative. The food stalls are varied, from burgers to vegan with lots of South American being available.

The Rasta Pasta wasn't even the strangest, there was Caribbean/Filipino and even more bizarely, Hungaran/Thai advertising a Schnitzel/Pad Thai combination.
