What I ate today - the food thread

$2 oysters by the harbour at sunset - The Culpepper Auckland. Lovely French waitress suggested a kumara and jalapeño entree/salad as well, and offered me a pinot noir on the house, which she then refilled. She got a nice tip and I had some good quality oysters,an OK salad and two wines all up for about $25 in a normally pricey part of Auckland. With lovely view.

Ah. IC lounge.:) A good place to be on a rainy day.

The HT downstairs is larger but yours is good enough. Enjoy.
Was actually too much so on my return the next day just asked for the savoury fare. Was more than enough for me even after working then walking around town for several hours and skipping lunch.

Obviously it’s not ‘free’ but in comparison to many other hotel lounges I’ve been in it's an impressive complementary afternoon offering, and clearly made fresh with the chef in the kitchen all afternoon.

And today I had my first ever relaxing day in London - so wanted to try something british. Found a pub on the banks of the Thames and had fish and chips (with mushy peas and vinegar), and a Pimms with lemonade :)

For the starter I choose the "plum tomato and chargrilled pepper" soup. It was served hot at the table - and was very, very good. I am rarely impressed by soups (usually through them arriving cold) but this was perfect.

For the main, I went with the "slow braised beef". Again, I was very impressed. Very delicious. I tried so hard not to eat it all (as I wanted to be hungry for my first ever ANA F flight in an hour) but I was weak and finished it :(

And of course I chose the Argentine Malbec. I realize now I didn't even read past it on the wine list :O

What I didn't eat yesterday in Berlin, I told the waiter I wasn't happy about the Canberra one as we can see kangaroos most days from our kitchen window, I don't think he believed me.
