What I ate today - the food thread

Buzzati con Vongole for lunch in Alghero, I'm sure I was Italian in a previous life. :)

I forgot to take a photo, but you'll have to believe me that it was good..........

Oysters with vinegar and salsa; then prawns and scallops in a tomato-based sauce. Very nice. Think this place was the Buffalo Bar.

Turns out there are some reasonably priced happy hour deals on Princes Wharf after all. Nice stop on the way back to the Hilton from the city.

Love Pegasus Bay. Never had a bad experience there.

And their late harvest Riesling, Aria...

Lunch in Castelsardo in Sardinia, My photo of the menu didnit turn out so well, but I can tell you I didn't have the 'Local Meat Plate", which included Horse, Donkey, Beef and Pork.

I had, as if anyone is surprised, pasta with clams, mussels, crab, squid, prawn and fish with a house red.

Last night was a metre long pizza shared between 4 of us.

One of us, not me, had a beer and coke mix....................................... Heavens forbid!

Dinner two nights ago was pasta with clams.......

It is also, inexplicably, popular in Germany and called a "diesel" (in some areas at least). My daughters partner had one and claimed it was fine - not for me

Last night Dinner in Wagga with a nearly full quorum of the QS family.

No prior reservations for accom and dinner saw me spend some time ringing around for dinner table on a LW.

Found one - this meant that if the others were booked out this one could have been a dud

Italian pizza and restaurant - I shall leave the name generic.

Bruschetta plus Arancini which was too salty.

I had the most watery fettuccini mushroom ever. Champignon mushrooms in a fettuccini? I could have done better at home. Small for a main size. I’m sure we asked for main size

Master QS had a pizza but we had nearly finished out mains when it arrived - in a pizza box! Some kind of ham/pineapple. Looked generic when in a pizza box

Miss QS had some ravioli but only finished half

Mrs QS had a fettuccini chicken, same watery sauce. Only Mrs QS had wine - some single serve bottle I wasn’t drinking wine.

Dessert was nonexistent - the tiramisu looked nice but unfortunately could not hail down a waiter/ress. There is no app to get a waiter/ress - that’s an idea ! An app to hail busy waiter/ress. You can see estimated time of arrival, the route they are taking. Or maybe Airtasker?. Something for the restaurant to think about.

Only managed 1 round of drinks so after dinner went next door to a gelateria for ice cream and coffee.

Ah well dinner is so often a device for the family to come together and reconnect and for that I’m grateful. So no photos - food was mediocre.

Was that meal in the Barossa and if so where? Have you eaten at the Coal cellar and has it got any better?

My bad. Don’t get p***d and post.

St Hugo’s, Pindari and then Mt Barker Hotel. The cauliflower steak was fantastic.

The chocolates were on the bed.

I have not tried Coal Cellar.
