all at Adelphi Restaurant in Perth Hilton Monday last week

My god was dessert good - ice cream ball rolled in coconut with lime and passion fruit sauce. So good I had it again on Tuesday night

Lunch menu at Barchetta Cafe, Cottesloe Beach last Tuesday. Truly is a small world. Been coming here for the last 2 years (and Blue Duck next door for probably the previous 3 years). Really tough to sit in the deck literally in the beach. Wind is your only distraction

Hard to do anything but relax and watch the waves roll in and breathe in the fresh salt water air. Delightful

Yum! Although your method of cutting it is making me twitch!

Far from fancy restaurants, this is what I had yesterday. I will explain...

Am in a small village in Chile. A dry, arid place here in the north. Apart from the bountiful sea, the hills only support goats. I was driving into the nearest city the other day and picked up a hitchhiker - he was standing on the highway near a small goat farm. He had a couple of crates with him - and talking I understood he sold fresh goats cheese. Obviously I purchased one. Actually I bought two :)

This is the thing of fantasy for me - I love goat's cheese, yet know that unpasteurised stuff can be bad for you - but what the hell - you only live once. He explained how to care for it - take it home, wash it gently in cold water, no scrubbing. Pat it dry with paper towell, then place it on a plate in the fridge. I asked how long it lasted like that - he said easy a week or so. But noone resists eating it in the first day or two.

He was right. It is all gone now, on day 3 :)

It has the texture and form almost like fetta - soft, salty, absolutely delicious.

So when I complain to some people that I am living on "bread and cheese", I am not really suffering :)

johnm, care for some?

Yesterday bought a cheese. I put it in the fridge, as you do, then later wanted to eat some. Suddenly was haunted by @Milboo. I used my new found knowledge and think I did this correctly. No photos today - not up to the tech tasks involved.

But that cheese was RESPECTED :)

Bluestone Bar, Sebel Launceston.

Hubby started with the calamari, he wasn't expecting this but enjoyed it.

My entree was pork, I was very disappointed as it was tough. I was looking for a steak knife.

King Island Angus beef for hubby, he loved it. Korean chicken entree for me and fried cauliflower. These did not disappoint, unlike the pork.

An end of year lunch with a good friend who I work with. Boronia Kitchen in Hunters Hill. Outstanding lunch - I had roast pork with a cos, candied walnut and zucchini salad. Side of amazing duck fat potato with rosemary.

Dessert was a cherry and mango salad, mango sorbet and licorice.

Highly recommend it - chef is the ex head chef from Aria and it shows.

So after breakfast, we went to Hillwood Berry farm, about 20mins north from Launceston. Fantastic! Also got raspberries and blackberries.

Then to Ashgrove cheese factory... Sooooo good, so many samples and so many goodies bought.

Yummy sausage roll and relish. Hubby had a pie and said it was awesome.

Hubby is now addicted to these and laughed that they're Keto (no idea what that is). He bought about 6 different flavours.

Bought a few cheeses to enjoy....sooooo many cheeses not enough time.

Ashgrove all has icecream but we went to Van Diemens icecream instead.

I want to make that dessert. I reckon I can do it

It was so simple it was perfect! There were 5 stoned cherries in the middle and then a licorice powder type sprinkled over them and under the sorbet.

Last night dinner and the restaurant has "shared plate dinning experience."

Salt and pepper squid.....I don't eat this so no sharing.

Beef pepper steak that hubby doesn't share (not served medium rare so hmmmm)

The saving grace, Halloumi and asparagus with chorizo. The halloumi was really good.
