Early light dinner at Oyster & Chop in the Viaduct, Auckland.

Cured Kingfish - citrus dressing, puffed pork scratching, soy jelly, glazed eel, watercress


Tahitian Ceviche - tuna, coconut, lime, fresh chilli, charred pineapple, vanilla bean


Ceviche was the winner for me, but both dishes were nice. Pricing a little on the pricey side for me.

Kingfish ceviche has become a national dish in Australia.

Was taken out to lunch by a BDM. I chose a local Japanese restaurant:

Entree: Okonomiyaki (Japanese pizza without a base):

I love okonomiyaki and always order. Didn’t disappoint

Backed up for more at Oyster & Chop in the Viaduct, Auckland. Visited for the oyster happy hour this time, which is far better priced compared to their normal menu.

Part way through 3 dozen oysters…



Dinner @ Giraffe (also in the Viaduct) later on…

CATCH OF THE DAY - cooked in lightly spiced coconut sauce, orzo rice, bok choy, fresh herbs



HAWKE’S BAY LAMB - agria puree, caramelised carrot, lightly spiced gravy



Duck Fat Fries - prosciutto wrapped agria potatoes, feta



All very tasty!

Fish restaurant, Princes Wharf Auckland.


Calamari - tender and quite tasty.

Crab cakes - delicious but way overpriced. To be fair, the waiter warned there were only two.

Burrata. Nice.

The young-uns enjoyed their cods and chips, with roe in the tartare sauce.

One vegetarian in the group and not much on offer. Overpriced gnocchi.

Lamb cutlets with ratatouille. Superb.

Market fish with nori chips. Also very good.

Bit of a mixed bag. For the prices expected better. Service lacked polish and even basics like cutlery, ensuring waters were topped up etc. Understaffed (seems an issue in NZ so far).

Great views from the deck though. We were at the Hilton so convenient, but I wouldn’t seek it out.
