What is your favorite Beer?

Crown Lager is rubbish.

But still, a bad beer is far better than an excellent soft drink. Even better when you don't have to dip into you pocket to pay for it. :)

Sapporo
Duvel
Wheat beer or White beer
Asahi draft on tap
Guinness

Just came back from the USA where I spent some time sampling the beers in San Francisco, where my favourite was the Anchor Summer beer. Having said you cannot beat the range of beers from the Little Creatures brewery in Fremantle

Cascade Light is my favorite local beer.

Asahi, yep.

Guiness is off my list. Trivia about this brew - that's got Isinglass, derived from fish.

I still haven't found a US beer that I like

I like the Matsos beer range especially the mango one!

Sent from my GT-I9100 using AustFreqFly

Special Note: Must be the original blend from country of origin.
I completely agree. Those that are brewed under licence don't have the same taste. Just like how Coke tastes different around the world.

My favourites would be Peroni, Estrella, Becks & Tsingtao.

I was very surprised to discover when I ordered Stella in London that it is considered a "wife-beater" beer (!). No wonder Tesco sells it so cheaply.

I don't drink beer but I cooked a Wagyu beef stew last night with Theakston's Old Peculier and it was delicious :D

Corona actually has no flavour, thus requiring the slice of lemon/lime.

The lime was originally to keep the flies out if the beer.

Corona is usually my beer of choice, and I alternate between Lemon & Lime for the flavour.

If I'm in camp I generally stick to Hann Superdry 3.5.

On a scorching day it will be a pint bottle of Magners/Bulmers & a pint glass with ice....

For everyday quaffing I'm quite happy with Carlton Draught.

Otherwise, Boags Premium is nice, Sam Adams is fine, Speights is OK, VB is pretty dire (though in an emergency...:)). There are so many varieties out there, and depending on my mood, many are OK, even nice. Bud Lite was the absolute worst I can recall.

Travelling to Jakarta next week, I wondered which was the 'best' beer in Indonesia. Seems Bintang isn't. Anyway, I came across the Lonely Planet link with numerous comments on Tony Wheeler's list of the world's best beers...

Where is the best beer in the world? – Lonely Planet blog

I'll look forward to trying Lao Beer if that's available...I expect it, being a product of an ASEAN economy.

What's the best beer in a largely Muslim country? Something imported? Maybe enjoy what the locals drink. I've not been to Jakarta before, but if my knowledge of Bahasa is anything to go by, perhaps some Teh Tarik (milky sweet tea) or Teh Halia (milky sweet tea with ginger) is worth trying.

BTW - I'm a Fifty Lashes man when on tap up here. I love my beer fresh - Zierholz and the Wig and Pen are a treat when in Canberra, Lord Nelson's in Sydney is always good fun for some Three Sheets. Blue Sky Brewery from Cairns also makes some beer perfect for the DRW climate.

Seems that many people are not limiting themselves to the best beer in indonesia as per the OP. Hence I can join in as a I know nothing an Inn-doo-nesian (best said with a deep south US accent) beers.

My list:

Augustiner
Paulaner
Erdinger
Andechs
Copper's Pale Ale
Any of the Thomas Cooper's range, including Cooper's 62
Guinness
Montieth's Winter Ale (a new fav)
My home brew
Crownies
xx_X Gold, xx_X

No particular order, as that varies depending on mood.

Coopers Red

I assume you mean Cooper's Sparkling Ale - There is no such beast as Cooper's Red.

I brewed for a few years, the shortcut way, buy a tin of 'goop' and mix it with water, sugar etc. and let it ferment. Beer made this way always seemed to have quite a different taste (and pleasantly so) to commercial beers and I quite liked it, but it was quite an effort to brew and bottle, even if it was dirt cheap. I still have the equipment, should dust it off and give it a go.

Getting the cleaning done is my hard bit. I haven't advanced to toasting my own malt or anything like that, so it is goop for me as well. I like it, I like it when I get a nice creamy head from an Ale or a lager and some long lasting bubbles such that it holds the head. But it is also variable in the result with some bottles being just no good, even in the same batch. I have also let my brother try and some random friends of friends resulting in fairly poor to average responses. There is a place in Brisbane that does he fermenting for you and it is then just a case of bottling. I would love to give that a shot.

Yes, the sterilisation is the key, forget that and forget about brewing at all. I am seriously tempted to have another crack...good luck with yours!

An alternative to brewing your own at home is those "You Brew It" places. Get a few mates around and it makes for a fun day out to brew six cartons, and it is generally a lot lazier than at home. If only we had one up here in DRW, although I reckon the patience required to brew six cartons would be lost on many Territorians who seem to prefer Extra Dry as they can chug it down faster. My favourite brew from the one in Canberra was a Ginger Cider - a magnificent summer drink IMHO. I found myself sharing a bottle between two, pouring it over two glasses full of ice and a few sprigs of mint. I'd be trying to make it myself up here except Mrs Here2go dislikes ginger in most forms.
