Samuel Adams. Anchor Steam in San Francisco.
+1 for Anchor Steam. I was introduced to this one at SFO airport back in 1997 after completing a 2-day lab exam and needing something to celebrate the results. Still look for when I'm in the region. Enjoyed a few last month. A very nice, if a little sweet, Amber Ale.

There is at least one of those places here in Melbourne that I know of (only 10 minutes from me too), but the name escapes me for the moment.

unfortunately I live in Adelaide, the home of coopers and I haven't been able to find such a place. I can only think it would be too commercial for the hard core for the home brewers in South Oz.

Not a fan of lagers at all. Prefer pale ale, bright ale or wheat beer generally. Staples in my fridge include Little Creatures Pale Ale, James Squire Bright/Pale Ales and Fat Yak. When I was working in the US, I loved Anchor Steam and another one i can't remember but it was something along the lines of San Francisco Summer Ale somethingorother. We live near a pretty nice gastropub type place in Brisbane, specialising in microbrews (can't remember names) and I've been pleasantly surprised by some of the beers I've tasted, as have never really been hugely into beer.

1. San Miguel (Philippines)
2. Asahi (Japan)
3. Tsingtao (China)

:D
Special Note: Must be the original blend from country of origin. (I'm not easily deceived) as many beers are brewed under licence elsewhere nowadays, & there are distinct differences.

I like the San Miguel Light (Philippines)

I hope you dont believe that low carb hype??

Nope - I meant to quote the original poster when they said, Blonde. I like a good Belgian style blonde - which to me is a light hefeweizen. Mmmm... I miss good beer since moving to the Top End.

Low carb beer, Coopers Light, then Coopers Mild. Alcohol content and carbs do have a correlation. Of course, just drinking one good beer is better than three cough ones. Most of the Top End will disagree with me though - my friend who manages a pub in Palmerston will sell $100K in Drive Through on a bad day.

Low carb beer is something different to low alcohol beer. In the context of Australia, Pure Blonde is a low carb beer, but it has the normal alcohol content. Hence the comment about low carb hype with full alcohol content it isn't really low carb. Coopers light and mild would refer to alcohol content only, without making a claim about carbs, IMO.

Remember listening to Chuck Hahn talk about it. Low Carb still has more carbs than lower alcohol beers. So if you want a low carb beer, stick with Coopers Light and Mild.

Difficult, I like most beers... (That is, beer that deserves its name and not the stuff big Australian and American brands try to sell as "beer")

If forced, my list would be:

  1. Jever, Germany (can't buy it outside Europe, I don't think :()

Most important is actually that the amount is right. And that generally means "Lots of it" in my personal opinion

I did a quick look on boozle and found a place in WA that sells Jever. Berlin I see you live in NSW. Maybe a beer run to WA? :p

Jever Pils 330ml 24 Stubbies : Boozle.com.au : Search for Australia's cheapest alcohol prices

but thats warm!!

Depends where you are. Leganas I can pick up a crate and it is cold for 13PHP each. Iloilo around 20PHP cold.

Went to a locals bar(felt like a real foreigner) and only paid app 20php across the bar.

We bought low alcohol/low fat Shiraz out of curiosity - Miranda Summer Hues Shiraz. But it's actually rather tasty and ended up as one of our regular staples, even if we think the low fat marketing is a joke.
