Re: F seating on Qantas A380

Haven't read all the thread, so apologies. 1A looks and feels SO good on the boarding pass, but more noise, so I prefer 2A. Someone mentioned not being able to see out of the window from the middle aisle, but I can't really see out of the window from a window seat in F anyway, It's too far away. NB. I keep forgetting to ask the FA's to 'ignore me'. Due to the headphones, darkened cabin and angle of the seating, I keep jumping out of my skin every time they lean over to talk to me and offer me something.

Re: F seating on Qantas A380

+1 (100%)

This thread is really for the OCD on steroi_s.

Most mortals would be ecstatic travelling in F - once.

By allocated, I mean auto allocated.

I find I am usually pre-allocated 2A these days, or 3/4A if they are already taken.

The FA's have asked me a number of times if I found the noise and disturbance in 1A a problem. Apparently they receive a number of complaints.

I would hazard to guess most F pax don't really worry about seat selection, as there's no bad seat per se. Not everyone is as obsessed as we are ;)

Re: First Class Seating in the A380…..Need Help!

Agree about personal preference, and I did always choose A seats because they do have greater privacy than middle and K. Perhaps just bad luck on creaking floor - and the occasion when I or it managed to break the entire electrics in one of the suites!

I think it is very much personal preferences as we always choose the A side - usually 2A and 3A. I haven't noticed floor creaking. I have also avoided 1a due to the cupboard but some people seem to prefer it. So I suspect it is a case of no bad seats and we are just obsessive over our own pet seats. :)

Re: First Class Seating in the A380…..Need Help!

Never choose 3 K it is horrid absolutely horrid I tell ya. It has nothing to do with the fact that it my favourite seat :D . Its Private its mid way in service, most FA's always travel up and down the A side. Cant be seen into by the F Aisle and most of all far away from the noise of the galley and the toilet. Perfect absolutely Perfect BUT only for me LOL

Re: First Class Seating in the A380…..Need Help!

Flown 3A once Syd-LAX and adored the (old style) tasting menu. The seat was peachy too but F wasn't too full that day.
Booked in 3K on Boxing Day - be interesting to compare LHS and RHS.
It did amuse me that pre-flight, when people are faffing with their bags etc, the cabin can appear 'crowded' (okay, nothing like Y!) but then when everyone sits and the privacy screens go up there's just the odd hint there are other people in the cabin with you - bliss!

Thinking what would be the most social seat in the F cabin?
Don't think this question was answered positively... Anyway, if you feel like being social you can always pop up the stairs and through the Velcro barrier to the J lounge. Dunno how much socialising occurs there but at least there's a designated area for it.

What Velcro barrier?
I've never seen one.

Re: F seating on Qantas A380

I looked up some upcoming QF flights with the allocation in F seating to see how people actually exercises their preferences.

It appears from this unscientific browsing that seats 5A, 5F and 5K are not that popular.

And this, from another route

Both flights are within the next 24 hours.

FWIW, I had moved to 2K some 5 min after I selected 5A (due to potential noise concerns).

What do those yellow diamonds mean, the ones on some of the vacant seats ?

Seat guru ratings - if you bring up a seat map using expert flyer and mouse over a symbol, a pop up appears.

Personally I have the feature turned off as I find the popup annoying.

Re: F seating on Qantas A380

I may have mentioned alsewhere, but have a bad memory. Mr ALH had 1A to sit in, 2A to sleep in and I had 3Ato sit in and 4A to sleep in all the way from SYD to DXB. Only 1 other person in First. Y was chock a block. That was a good flight

Re: F seating on Qantas A380

Yes, I agree what with the FA's leaning over to talk to you. I hate it I have jumped out of my skin on several occasions. A better way would be to have a do not disturb sign that you could possible hang somewhere, or you type it into your screen and the FA's know which guests don't want to be disturbed.

Re: F seating on Qantas A380

Yeah. I prefer to ask when I want something, or get up and stretch my legs and get something myself

What Velcro barrier?
I've never seen one.
There is, or used to be, a tape across the top of the stairs to prevent J pax running down the stairs. (Doesn't stop them from looking down with envy though!) The Velcro secured the two halves of the tape in the middle and would obviously split apart if required in an emergency.

Apparently in F on Emirates you have "room service" and can call the FAs in the galley with any requests. There is also the door you can close too. I'll be testing it all out in Jan

Sounds like a great idea, you pay enough for a first seat, so they should be doing a "room service" style service. Enjoy F with emirates. I've never flown with them as yet.

Not seen any barriers on any recent flights. Have seen lots of traffic on the stairs : both F pax going up to the lounge and J pax coming downstairs to use the F toilets  (QF10 last month)

Seriously? I think I would throw a wobbly! One of the big benefits with F is that you don't have to wait for bathroom access.......

Many here on AFF probably has had this scenario before, but it is a first for me

No ranting..... only sharing some good news from moi.

Logging into MMB to see the whole F cabin on QF 388 open for me to choose from !

And I do mean from 1A to 5K.

How delicious it is to have the first "bite of the cherry" !!!

Over to my fellow (OCD) AFFers for suggestion.

I had picked 4A - again.

Cheers
