Re: F seating on Qantas A380

so from what i read....you enjoyed your FIRST experience...but you EXPECT your BUSINESS experience to be EQUAL!!! FIRST and BUSINESS will always have a differential no matter which airline you fly....so you are never going to be pleased  ... i refer to your own words.... 'spolied brat'
wow - nice:) No I didn't expect them to be equal, but I thought that flying Qantas would mean enough to me that I would be prepared to put up with the difference. ( and do you have to yell so much.....)

Strewth; tone it down a bit will you? I'm trying to sleep here. You were yelling in the Singapore Lounge thread today as well.

Re: F seating on Qantas A380

Did F in 380 at end of August and J in 747 a few weeks ago, so not quite the comparison you are looking for. However differences I noticed (that bugged me, being a spoiled brat), is no canapés in J - I really like getting a drink straight away with nice hot canapé, not just a packet of pretzels and nuts. chocolates were a nice truffle in F and nothing much in J. The "nice" ice-cream was a lovely vanilla with a chocolate covering in F, just tubs in J. There was a degustation in F. Mr FM had the cheese plate in both F and j and he said it was similar with nicer cheese in F. From memory there were a few more food choices in F than J, although I thought the food was good in both. My biggest disappointment was the bubbly - really didn't think much of the Billecart in J - maybe not dry enough for me?

For me the biggest differences were the mattress and doona in F - so much more comfortable than that silly mat in J - not really sure it serves any purpose! Also the flight attendants in F are so much better. It is not that the ones in J were bad - they did what was needed and the guy we had on our return flight was excellent. The ones in F are just so much more attentive and I just like being cosseted. :)

Generally the trip in J left me underwhelmed and has made me rethink my flying strategy - I realise now that I like flying in F and previously I thought I would rather fly J with Qantas than F with someone else and I no longer think that is true! I have been pretty much a Qantas passenger for 40 years with some BA and once Ethihad (and of course other airlines where neither QF or BA were available). However time to realise that Qantas is now a listed company with a duty to its shareholders, so it needs to get rid of routes and take away F where necessary, so I need to move with the times and explore other options....

TPAC J on Qantas is arguably better than TPAC F on UA. Loved the UA beds, but the service was appalling.

I am sure that is true -my explorations of life outside QF will have to be carefully chosen. :)

Got my sms today on waking up. Same with the EF alert (of my row 12 seat) having been vacated.

Must have happened overnight !

All 'plum' seats were taken a few days ago (? FASA), leaving 5A/K, 2K, 1A/K.

Guess I will enjoy 5A hoping there is no baby on board with fewer pax on A side.

Would 2K be a better alternative ?

Much of a much if you ask me.
Double the foot traffic, I've also had a shaking/creaking floor in the middle of the K side. Some noise and light from behind 5A.
Definitely less foot traffic A side though.

There's no bad seats. I'd take 1A to avoid the galley goss...

I used to love this seat (or how great it looks on the boarding pass) but the cupboard in front and the bursting of FA's through the curtain when you're trying to sleep I find 2-4A are the best solo seats for me. YMMV.

Sadly for legroom, 2A, 3A and 4A are all taken.

Yes, I know.... but as serfty pointed out, they [2A, 3A, 4A] were gone for a few weeks now.

Re: F seating on Qantas A380

Do they send the young stunners down back on QF or am I likely to encounter them in F? :D

Though far from a frequent flyer compared to some on here, from my own flying I don't think QF employs many young stunners as FAs !
Especially compared to other airlines IMO.

Re: F seating on Qantas A380

I looked up some upcoming QF flights with the allocation in F seating to see how people actually exercises their preferences.

It appears from this unscientific browsing that seats 5A, 5F and 5K are not that popular.

And this, from another route

Both flights are within the next 24 hours.

FWIW, I had moved to 2K some 5 min after I selected 5A (due to potential noise concerns).

While they might be nice to look at, they are less likely to have the experience required in an emergency situation.

The young ones are on the odd domestic sector as they lack seniority.

I think they are last to be allocated due to bassinet positions?

Re: First Class Seating in the A380…..Need Help!

Config is actually 1-1-1

I avoid front and rear rows due to noise, light and general disruption from galley/bathrooms. I also avoid the LHS aisle as the floor creeks and has more FA traffic. Middle seats of course have no window view. And RHS aisle should enjoy more service due to twice the number of PAX either side of that aisle c.f. LHS aisle. In short, recommend 2K, 3K and 4K.

G'Day There,

The QF A380 F Class is in a 1-2-1 configuration if you wanted to sit together you would be better to sit in the middle of the aircraft. Overall the A380's experience with QF is a very good one, The FA's were extremely friendly and helpful, bags came out first and we the First class lounge in Sydney was very nice too.
I highly recommend flying in first class with QF

Re: F seating on Qantas A380

Only 5A is a bassinet seat and I could have chosen that without any restriction so your theory may not hold there, I am afraid.

Another flight - today's QF11

By allocated, I mean auto allocated.

I find I am usually pre-allocated 2A these days, or 3/4A if they are already taken.

The FA's have asked me a number of times if I found the noise and disturbance in 1A a problem. Apparently they receive a number of complaints.

I would hazard to guess most F pax don't really worry about seat selection, as there's no bad seat per se. Not everyone is as obsessed as we are ;)

I think it is very much personal preferences as we always choose the A side - usually 2A and 3A. I haven't noticed floor creaking. I have also avoided 1a due to the cupboard but some people seem to prefer it. So I suspect it is a case of no bad seats and we are just obsessive over our own pet seats. :)
