What the best seat(s) to choose in First class on A380?

I've just selected myself 1A all the way from Marseille to Sydney in May 2016. Chased down our QF ref number from a recent AA F award splurge. I am 1A (just for the boarding pass), I am sure the minor inconveniences of the toilet and crew cupboard will be very minor indeed. SWMBO is in 2A on the A380 leg. At present we have a private cabin.

Keeping our eyes peeled for the next AA 60k bonus, perfect offer for this trip! ;)
after experimenting with a few options, 1A and 2A are now our preferred seats as well :)

I like 3A as it is a little more private that 1 or 2, and is furthest away from the facilities. If you like an even bit more privacy, go for 4 or 5, but a bit closer to the galley. Seat 4A was out of order on my last flight, so luckily I had chosen 3A.

I've had 4A busted twice in the last 12 months. 3A is my preference.

I was thinking of starting a thread about how QF need a new F cabin, but I'm thinking the whole A380 is due.

Wonder when it is on the QF radar?

I've gone for 3A and 4A for our upcoming QF9 trip. It's going against every fibre in my body not to go for as close to the front as possible :D

I chose 2A and 3A for our trip in tomorrow's QF9
1A has been available since the booking was made 350 days ago, but I think I'll stick with what we have.
Now waiting for a call from the lounge today for spa appointments

After being in 4A with a crying infant behind me I think 2A is my preference.

Well I've been unlucky in 2A recently to get an infant in front of me in 1F. At least it was on the shorter leg of the flight but still shows you never know where it's gonna hit you ;)

Attached is a seat allocation on QF A380 for F Cabin 48 hrs before departure.

It showed the punters' preference: 1A & all middle F seats remain "unloved".

24 hrs earlier, all K seats were vacant with 2-3-4A being the first to be snapped up (incl. yours truly) followed by 5A today.

I am well aware I march to the beat of a different drum - but I just do not get the whole 'gotta get 1A' theory - I am yet to see any premium cabin where 1A is the 'best in show'!

My guess is that they are the relatively less experienced travellers who desire the 1A seats - generally speaking.

I've snagged 4A at the moment for a flight next year , 2/3a are not available at the moment, will check daily! I don't fear the bassinet (as a father of three young kids, it doesn't honestly bother me) - but are there any other reasons why I should switch to the K side?

Seat Alert from Expert Flyer is designed for that purpose which could be helpful.

Depends, on B747s for example seats 1A/K are my preferred choice, not because the number but for the privacy. On most A380s and B777s I regard row 1 as inferior due to the location of toilets and galley.

Off course it's all 1st world issues and even when seating in 5A once on QF I couldn't fault it, on the contrary, had more space and served first!

In this situation I would go 1A not for the "I gotta have 1A" thing (been there, done that, t shirt worn out) but because the A side see far less traffic, and you're not sharing an overhead (as the F/K seats have to). The downside to 1A on the QF380 as it's right near the lav and specially the closet which can see traffic at times and can bother.

with that seatmap (above) I'd take 1A then 3K as my options before any F seat, but that's just me.
