What the best seat(s) to choose in First class on A380?

2/3/4A are simply awful seats you will do well to steer clear of, leaving them available for moi ;)

1A - the light from the curtain when cabin crew burst through is annoying. There's also the coat locker.

5A the noise from the galley and the rabble is a bit much.

As for F/K you have twice the pax than the A row, and there seems far more traffic because of that, contrary to other reports.

Saying all that, I'm either wide awake and gorging myself or I'm dropping a sleeping tablet and heading off to the land of nod.

There really aren't any horrible seats in F. Slightly less favourable maybe...

Any one you like personally

The real issue is what side you like to lie on when you sleep, as this may determine your seat preference. The use of the F cabin as a crew thoroughfare always disappoints me as do the terrible bathrooms QF went with on these planes. The use of the overhead lockers to store all the bedding is also ridiculous given that on the 380 it was all known from the start, something a bit smarter could have been designed into the bed or somewhere else.

I decided that it was my turn to "take one for the team" and have chosen 2A/3A for hubby & I - just to ensure no other AFFers are faced with the prospect of sitting in such "awful seats" mind.

Very kind of you notsure. I had to look up TRD on my tablet to find out your base.

Qantas A380 First Class Seating

Hi all! First post here :)

I'm booked in first class from London Heathrow to Melbourne via Dubai on the 16th of December.

Everything is available except for 2A, 2F & 4A. I've been on seatguru and they quote 1A as being a noisy seat due to the nearby toilets. Is it really that noisy? Or should I go for something further back like 3A or 5A?

What would you say is the best seat?

Thankyou :)

I'd take 3A but 1A is fine and looks good on your boarding pass. This thread has all of the informtion you'll ever need.

Re: Qantas A380 First Class Seating

Welcome aboard hugowood, what an interesting first post in what will hopefully be a long and fruitful time on AFF.

Seat 3A is probably the best IMHO so grab it ASAP.

Re: Qantas A380 First Class Seating

There are no bad F seats. Definitely go for A though, more private than F/K.

Re: Qantas A380 First Class Seating

No problems with 1A.

I prefer A seats vs the K.

Enjoy the flight. May I recommend the degustation menu?

Re: Qantas A380 First Class Seating

Is the degustation available ex UK? I thought it was only ex AU.
Reports are yes - certainly for QF10.

It's no longer available for QF9 ex MEL (due to its later scheduling these days).

That is correct. It is available on QF10 ex-LHR. No tasting menu at all now on QF9.
It is (or was the last time I flew) available on QF2 ex-DXB also
To be honest it's no sad loss really as the tasting menu these days is simply an extra entree (or small plate as they seem to be called) plus the cheese and dessert courses. It would be entirely possible to create your own from the normal menu depending on the loads.

Exactly.

It's been a long time since it was actually a worthwhile degustation experience IMO.

it really is a personal thing - Mr FM and I have been trying out 1A and 1K for the last few flights - he has decided he really likes 1K - I am fine with 1A although have found the crew cupboard ( not the coat cupboard) a little annoying. Haven't found the toilets an issue at all. Yes you can hear them, but when watching movies or sleeping it really doesn't disturb. For our next two flights in April/May (QF1 and QF12), Mr FM is sticking with 1K and I have gone for 3A (2A not available) and 2A.

It was available on QF2 ex Dubai on the 22nd September but as you describe, it really wasn't anything all that different.
