What are the other "disadvantages" to 1A, besides toilet and coat locker?

I don't recall any others and TBH there was little traffic or disruption at all. Perversely, there seemed to be more traffic and disruption when seated in 3A MEL-SIN-MEL recently. I know that doesn't seem logical but that is how it felt. I would always choose an 'A' seat given the choice but I think you would be hard pressed to find a 'bad' seat on the 388 in F. :)

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

I was in 1A ealier this week.

There was little traffic, my order was taken first and the toilet nearby was not an issue.

However, I was woken up twice by the same FA - dragging their bag out of the coat locker that is between 1A and the left side toilet and again when putting it back ½ hour later.

That is either bad placement of the coat locker or a very careless FA. Either way, bad form Qantas.

Can't believe this thread has run to 6 pages - there are no bad seats on QF A380 F!

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

Just completed SYD-SIN-SYD over 1K back 1A. I had selected 3K for the first leg but was moved post OLCI due to 3K IFE apparently being out of service.

1K - noise was not a big issue however, the closet is a nuisance & the age old problem with the curtain at night & light penetration.

1A - the same as above....but 4 less passengers using this aisle.

In future I'll stay away from row 1 and head straight to 2,3,4 on the A side.

Have done SYD-SIN-LHR this week and would be happy to sit in 3A for every long haul trip for a while. Probably not wise for us all to be posting these preferences. It will be impossible to select our preferred seats soon! :)

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

Mrs GPH has Booked us to LHR and so far we have 5 F and 5K , I am not so keen as she changed us from 3 A and 3 F . any thoughts ?
I have asked her to change us back to row 3

Personally I would go with something like 2A/3A or 3A/4A or 4A/5A etc

Agree with dfcatch's post. 2/3 or 3/4 (all A) if possible. Effectively, you cannot sit 'together' though you can of course visit each other and dine together utilising the ottoman, so I figure you may as well have the best seats available to you for the times you are apart, which IMHO are the A seats. But each to their own. :)

Basically agree 2A&3A or 3A&4A if available but any available A combination.

When strapped in you are basically solo and cannot really see another seated PAX.

The suites are quite large with plenty of room for two to sit to face each other, talk and dine.

If only 1 seat is available on the A side I would grab it and request/ask/hope that you can secure 5A (bassinet) leading up to takeoff.

There is no real couple seats in F other than the buddy seat! however, they do have 14 of those:)

The other thing to remember is that it's F - it's all good!

I did notice that on my (limited) experience so far, the couples were sitting across the aisle from each other on the J/K seats.
The worst combo would be A/J due to the privacy screens

This is taken from 5A with the screens down. When they are up which is basically all the time except for take-off and landing all you see is a Mushroom wall

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

Ths week, we did the 3A + 4A, with visiting for dining and while beds were being made up. Have previously tried other combinations but this latest one worked well.

Mind you, I did see one couple getting quite up close and personal, mid-flight, when I was up and about stretching my legs. Better not give the seat numbers, just in case it was an AFFer - or two!:D

Is the F bed wide enough for that to even be possible?

Cannot confirm from personal experience - but did not seem to be much of a problem. Admittedly, I refrained from close study. Obviously was not thinking of my obligations to report in full AFF mode.

Without a doubt! It's first class - no dirty socks here;)

Haha, I wonder what the cabin crew would do, or be obliged to do, if they saw/heard something like that. Did any of the staff say anything to the couple?

I personally think that's revolting.
If I saw anything like this I would report it to the cabin crew.
Maybe I've led a sheltered life but I have no desire to have to avert my eyes or look for an alternative route to the bathroom etc. during my trip on expensive public transport.

A couple of years ago on QF11 (actually the first time my then 6-month old had taken an international flight) there was a honeymooning couple in 2A/3A who wanted to sleep together (in the actual resting sense rather than the carnal sense as far as I could tell). The cabin crew very quickly stopped that from happening, with the couple actually quite disappointed they had to sleep separately for the next 8 hours or so into LAX.
