Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

There's actually not a lot of physical distance between 5A and 50C (although a whole would of difference).

(From 50C I was able to watch the tailcam on seat F5's screen while landing into MEL ealier this month.)

How did you go with noise/bumps being so close to the galley? Did you white Socks it?

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

1A on the A380 was perfect in my opinion. Wasn't disturbed by anyone.

Except for the desirable disturbance of the FA gliding by to bring a drop more Taittinger?:p

No need for white socks as 50C is a bulkhead seat with about 20" of leg space - you can't stretch out the same way (no-one other than 50A/B occupant may try to walk past you in any case).

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

My one and only F on A380 was 1A, and noise is not a issue, and not a noticeable amount of foot traffic through to the front.

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

Reading this thread has made me change from 3K to 5A.

SYD-SIN-SYD next week.....out 5A, back 1A - will post my thoughts after the event.

It wasn't that long ago I didn't really care where I sat - I was just happy to be going somewhere.

Funny, how things change!

Indeed.

This past weekend I found a photo of myself from about 10 years ago sitting in a middle economy seat on a Qantas 747-400. If memory serves it was when QF9 had a SYD-MEL segment and you could book it for domestic travel. I'm sure I was ecstatic about flying somewhere, especially on a 747 but you wouldn't catch me in a middle these days :)

Enjoy the trip.

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

Well the First host has checked me into 1A, I'll try to report back.

Well, my 5A has been pushed back 3K....maybe I'm on request, with a few others?

5A is the bassinet seat.
Personally I would take anything in A/K and avoid the middle row.
Service is generally from front of cabin to back but the FA to passenger ratio seems pretty high so not really an issue
Happy Travels :)

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

i lked 3a but that was teh most champagne I've ever had!
The FA took my statement that she didn't need to ask if i wanted teh glass filled up at face value and was very attentive
Maybe it was teh chokkies S*

Didnt really have any issues with teh other 3 seats that i can't remember either

Interesting, how many FAs are there anyway - does it change if the cabin is reasonably empty?
I would've thought one reason for selecting a forward row is to be served meals first.

i THINK (and am happy to be corrected) that First (14pax) has 3 cabin crew..2 operate/manage the cabin side of things and 1 operates/manages the galley stuff..not sure what happens when there's light load in First on A380, but i do know on other long haul aircraft (747/a330/767), cabin crew worked where they where needed most if one cabin/area was more lightly loaded than another.. perhaps if there is any a380 cabin crew lurking here they could enlighten us :D

3A is probably best now I have had a BIS experience.

Toilet at 1A not an issue, but the coat locker can be.

With 9 of 14 seats the FA allocation is about 2½.

Posted from 1A on a wing and a prayer ...

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

On both the 747 and A380 there are 3 crew. 2 work in the cabin and 1 in the galley as under the radar mentioned.

Usually when the load is 7 or under a crew member will go assist elsewhere. If First was full and the other cabins lighter assistance would be offered to First (usually to help make beds to allow the actual F operator to focus on the service)

In all cabins when one cabin has finished before the others they offer help in those cabins.

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

Interesting you say that A has less traffic, as that traditionally isn't the case IMHO.

I have selected 2K for my upcoming LAX-MEL sojourn. Should I change it to 2A or 3A you reckon?

I recently flew SYD/LAX in 2k

Couldnt fault the experience

Its an absolute joy of an aircraft. I think 2/3/4A would be my choice

But hey, nice problem to have:):p

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

my favourite on 388 is 2A (only aircraft i don't obsess over 1A)

2A was definitely good coming from LAX-SYD on Wed night. Very little traffic on the A side helped by the fact that 1A was vacant. I would certainly sit their again.

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

What are the other "disadvantages" to 1A, besides toilet and coat locker?
