I'm currently drinking coffee out of one of my more visible travel trophies. Not the most practical, but I do enjoy my 20oz mugs. Usually Starbucks, but this one is one of the sculpted Americaware examples I picked up in Clines Corner.
We have a wooden box for forren money. Coins and notes that are reminders of travel, an easy source of "airport money" for the next trip(s) and a source of delight to visiting children. A treasure chest of gold and silver - and bronze.
Fridge magnets are going to feature a lot more after we spent an hour in a car park near MCI scraping stickers off the back of our rental van. Had to buy some gunk-removers to get the more stubborn ones off. The "Roswell" magnet now graces the back of my son's car, and I switch it from side to side every few days to prevent moisture buildup beneath.
Boarding passes, dockets, maps, the occasional hotel keycard, tickets for attractions, postcards... They all get glued into my travel journals, and when i leaf through them, they bring up memories that would never otherwise return. I use Levenger Circa journals (with the discs that grip the paper and allow pages to be easily move around) and I have a punch that lets me slot some items straight in. Atoma, Myndology Rollabind and Staples Arc are similar and largely compatible systems.
I'm a bit of a packrat, really. But i see travel as a hobby, and might as well enjoy it even when not travelling.
