What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

OTOH the rumors of armed conflicts turn out to be prophetic, foreign currencies may be worthless for awhile.

Hopefully someone can come up with a more "positive" thought.

Just wandering
Fred

PS I would be happy at anything in the US0.77 to US0.82 range.

We bought our sons some Russian rubles for Christmas. UAE exchange were very nice and arranged to get some in for us. The Russian currency isn’t sought after that’s for sure.

Using a currency arrangement we can still achieve better than 0.76 in a couple of months time when the currency is sitting at 0.7513 tonight. Of course if the $AUD rallies you get stuck with the contract you committed to rather than that new higher rate.

Its still tracking the Canadian Dollar. It wobbles between 74 and 86. I Feel it weakens at Christmas, but against thb and sg dollar we are at notable lows. Remember currency wars , and what would happen if AUD interest rates rose - not good if there is an election or dual citizen issues cause a spill. As we will have blackout this summer and be a joke globally, testing 72cents is on the cards.

Well my call earlier n the year of 60 cents has not come true...... So for 2018..... The AU dollar will follow bitcoin in movement up and down but not as much in either direction ;)

I first travelled to Thailand in 2003 and from memory it was ~THB24 to AUD1 then. I have seen it as high as THB33 and now back down to the levels of 2003.

Very sad and couldn't come at a worse time for us as I've been exchanging AUD to THB in huge quantities and need to exchange much more over the next few years.

There is a lesson right there.

F
And what would that lesson be? Should I have exchanged AUD100,000 to USD when it was AUD1->USD1.05?
Funny you should say that. I said to +1 when you could get 1/1 now is the time we should convert all our $$ to USD.
We didn't but I did buy a reasonable amount which is now paying my way around the US.

I dusted off my old and trusty crystal ball that was in my chook shed, i gave it a real good rub and out popped a jeanie, she said " what is your wish master/" I said "what will happen to foreign exchange rates in the next year' reply was "master its all guess work from the financial guru's and is only true about half the time so really its mostly .........t" I put the ball back with the chooks.

I've always believed that the correct answer to the original question is "Nobody knows, but everybody guesses"

I think this demonstrates that I am right

Experts clash on whether Aussie dollar is on track to crash or surge

Don’t you love how predictions on the $AUD can be wildly incorrect. Currencies can and do go all over the place.
