What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

Well all I can confirm is that I am , but that was going to happen regardless of the dollar. But it does put more money in the wineries which I am sure will help everywhere. My wines are midsized family operations. Always a good thing

raleyoz let's further discuss your generous AFF member discount offer pls?

(Post above genuinely intended to alleviate any commercial post conflict that might otherwise arise)

LMAO, i actually dont sell wine in Australia. however, if AFF would like to confirm what can be done , i am happy to arrange a set discount structure for AFF members.

AFF members are partial to discounts on plonk - again to circumvent any commercial conflicts may I ask what label / labels might be involved here so we might gauge levels of interest?

Thank you for your speedy response Mr / Ms Admin - now if only Mr Bundy Bear were so prompt to put his hand in his pocket to buy his mates a beer then the world would be a better place! :D

So buy now and store up. I bought physical USD at $1.07 because it was not rocket science that it was all to do with Fe and when China dropped off our dollar would follow.....
Some of us obviously got it wrong thinking parity was in for the long haul.

I think working in the Mining industry gives you a good persepective of the "highs" and "lows" of the markets. Us long-term industry guys can quote almost to the day, the booms and the busts of the industry.(ohh 2007, we we printing money!!!) The AUS-USD is one of our main drivers focal points (as commodities are sold in USD) and an AUD at 1.05 - 1.09 was just another "boom".
We look at "markers" in the industry to see/find if any changes were coming. The funny one this time to indicate the boom was over, were the side-of-the-road street cafes at the ports; they service the truckies who line up ready to fill their trucks with iron ore to take to the smelter. 2/3's of these had closed in two months as the trucks stopped coming!!! Time buy up before the boom came off.....

LOL, well 2 buck chuck is a US wine , I export Aust Wine to USA. But please be assured do not work in this segment of the market.
I will explore the options locally and see if I can sort out a good program for AFF

The other common sign, is when the experts use the phrase "This time its different" or "This is the new normal" usually means that whatever commodity or asset class they are talking about is due for a massive and often unforseen correction. This seems to work equally for house prices, share markets, commodity prices, interest rates, exchange rates or Mauritanian goat futures......

Yes i do love the spin doctors at work, you just have to readthrough the rubbish. My favourite one all the time is if the dollar goes up a cent, they roll out the "Great for holiday makers" then it drops and its "Great of exporters". I think in most cases they change the date and they have a half page story.....

As I indicated in a previous message, we look at mining world to see what is going on and don't really see any favourable news of late; Uganda just announced massive iron ore deposits, steel production down in China, taxes invoked (and partly revoked) on coal, FTA doesn't help. 75c looks about right and takes us back to where we were before the mining boom. Scary stuff since then is we have lost a lot more manufacturing.......
