What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

Today, Aussie 0.614 Euro cents not bad direction for those going to EU 17:03 WA time

Interest rates (relative and otherwise), commodity prices (the AUD is a speculative currency), economic data, outlook and sentiment, and relative monetary policy of our key trading countries—oh, and the global economic outlook. Crack this, and you'll understand the AUD!

We had an economist deliver a plenary at a conference last Thursday morning. He predicted a rise in unemployment, an interest rate cut and upside to the AUD. Guess 1/3 right pays the bills.

That's a good way actually

Rarely do people get it that right!

Anyone want to hazard a guess about whether the downward trend continues? Not sure whether to buy some now for September trip next year

Looks like that's a fair prediction...

It'll certainly make overseas travel quite a bit more expensive in AUD. Glad I've got a reasonable stash of USD, GBP, EUR, SGD etc to tide me over the next year or two, or.....
I got really lucky when I stocked up 2 weeks ago. Whilst it had already dropped, has dropped a further 3 cents in 2 weeks and I think it will continue that way

Yes the $AUD is vulnerable and dropped last night. It is not being helped by our current treasurer.
We are still a lucky country.
I gave up faith in the AUD as it fell behind Canada and NZ - and even GBP that deserves a Keating S-Bend correction. I moved a large chunk into gold ETF (PMGOLD) years ago with three monthly increases and some to a US credit union at 67 cents or better paying more interest as well. Only to discover USA hotel prices are through the roof in refugee cities like NYC. I suggest super funds will NOT be building housing, given no building inspectors seem to do their job strictly. Oh the body corporate fees for (balcony concrete rot), roof leaks, structural cracking, and now pets, and rent caps. This will continue - as retirees don't believe the numbers being told.
