What's your Uber Passenger rating?

4.71 after only 7 trips, all of which were in San Fran with my wife and son...I scored them all 5* so it can't have been reciprocal....must have got a couple of 4*s somehow....how interesting.

I guess it's about safety for the driver but I take your point.

The safety issue is very valid, but the rating system doesn't accurately reflect safety. I think most drivers rate down for stuff like short fares, didn't make small talk etc. If there was a method for drivers to more easily mark "this was a safety issue" and having that somehow reflected in the rating, then it might make more sense.

I'm not there to make small talk with the driver. I sit in the back seat for my safety and I use the time when I'd otherwise be driving to catch up on emails, news, social media etc

I don't make small talk with taxi drivers, seat mates on planes, shop assistants etc and find it ridiculous that Uber allows for passengers to be rated on something like this, especially when, for some, making small talk is next to impossible or creates anxiety etc

On the rare occasion that I have given feedback to a driver/Uber the response has always been "thanks we have passed this on to the driver". Which makes sense to fix whatever failing I had noted.

However I have never heard of any passenger getting feedback that they could use to improve whatever problems they may unwittingly be causing drivers!

For ages I was sitting at a perfect 5. Now I seem stagnant at 4.95. Not sure why. I don't particularly care. I still get plenty of good drivers. I actually believe a rating system to be a great idea. Why should drivers pick up loud mouthed clowns if they don't want to? Also, why should we have to put up with sub-standard drivers? The rating system over time should decrease both types of problem.

Uber has other advantages as well. My daughter went to some thing a few weeks back and started in Surfers and ended in Bundall (some function or event). The line for the bus in Surfers was huge so she rang me and I organised an Uber for her and her friend and watched her progress ... it even showed the car turn as it went around the Chevron Island roundabouts (straight ahead on the roundabouts)! As soon as they arrived, I rang them to make sure it was all good, which it was of course. They didn't need cash as I paid, and I didn't need to move my butt from the lounge chair. The $9.89 was well worth it, even if the drivers name was Mohammed! Thanks mate, great service! Much appreciated.

Sounds like you should consider sticking to taxis.

It's pretty incredible that you can do it.
I've done the same thing for my partners parents that don't use Uber and couldn't book a taxi.
All while being nearly 100km away.

I think you've answered your own question. My rating dropped when I arranged ubers for others. It's incredibly useful but technically against their terms.

I didn't know it was against the T's&C's. Why should they care, I wonder. They get the money same as if it were me taking the ride. I would have thought if anything, they should refuse the fare rather than de-rate the account holder. Heavens, they even pick up Maccas without the account holder present, what's the difference? I think I even heard of people using them like a surrogate courier service to pick up a parcel. Provided they are not held up at either end, I can't see a problem. Perhaps some of the Uber drivers would like to comment on these ways of using Uber??

This made me look - i got 4.5 over about 40 trips, in asia, USA, UK, I must suck at been awesome
I dont remember any issues, Every driver got 5 stars, except for the guy who couldnt find me, couldnt speak english, and didnt use the smartphone to navigate.
I do get a lot of trips cancelled by the driver, legacy of often being in the worst city in the world for traffic, and being in the backblocks. Sometimes they just give up, and annoyingly I have to apply for the refund.

From now on, I will wait until they rate me. I guess the only way to know is to look for an incremental rating change?

4.81 over around 70 trips. Quite opposite to most people, my rating went up a lot after the trips in the US and plunged in Australia.

One of the drivers in Hobart in our recent trip rated me like 1 or 2 stars. Only thing I think I did wrong was calling him to take us to the airport right before peak hours when he could earn more money. I couldn't care less about rating though. I'm a customer and I spend my money. If they don't want to pick me up because of the rating, fine, there is alternative.

One weird thing though, I normally ride with my partner (taking turns calling Uber), whose rating is still a perfect 5. Maybe some drivers here don't like Asian

How did you know this? From what I see the passenger ratings are anonymous.

After I got off the car, my rating went from 4.85 to 4.81. I'm not sure how Uber shows the rating, real time or after a few trips. However, my rating went down on 2 trips in a row so I believe it was real time.

That was the case before. However, they changed their policy over a month back, and it's now permitted and catered for.

4.81, I'm usually toasted and tell the driver I'm rating them 6 stars. It's pretty simple to game. Don't be an cough.

Click the menu button>help>Account and Payment Options>Changing my account settings>I would like to know my rating. Hopefully that is correct as when I do that it tells me that you need to take 5 trips before you'll have a rider rating and I have only done 2 so can't tell you if that is correct. It does say however to open you and touch the menu and your rating is the number displayed under your name. Hope this is some help

As with anything created by/for the American millennials market, kids who have been given awards for "just turning up" since they were 5... any score less than 5 out of 5 is a failure - but I do think it is fair for users and suppliers to rate each other... some customers are big whole@rses, just as much as some suppliers! Everyone should be rated (not sure if I agree with China's system-wide citizen approach though).

If your have the right to be subjective in your review, so should the other party when reviewing you!

Did the same for my partner in Australia while I was in Canada - worked perfectly :D

My rating is 4.90 - 9/10 times I'm wasted in an uber so probably my annoying small talk is what brings me down. The rating in the iPhone app can be found in the menu panel now right up the top (no need to go through help etc)

agreed. 3 stars should be the rating for satisfactory service, 4 for exceeding expectations, and 5 would be the best of the best and really only possible about 1% of the time (and same for 1 and 2).

But its Uber that have stuffed this up themselves, they require drivers to maintain above 4.5, and therefore have diluted the value of a 5 star rating.
