Where are you going in 2018?

Our planning:

2017:

in about 3 weeks we're back to Oro PNG to kayak at least some of the Tufi Fjords (and lie around the pool and snorkel) here ...

2018:

Plans are still fairly fluid but Lisa is doing an Italian walking holiday in April but in March (anniversary) we want to head over to New Island to bike along the Northern coastline, staying in guest houses right on the pristine white beaches ... after a relax and snorkel around Nusa Island Resort of course, like this:

Friends of mine have also invited us to their homes in Buka and Djaul Island, so that's the first half of the year sorted.

We have had 2018 organised for a while.
We see in the New Year in in Charleston. Then head to Savannah and Orlando-4 days then 4 days staying inside Disney World with the grandkids. From there a couple of days in Houston and our usual end of trip chill out in Bangkok.

March sees us off again.Singapore,Phoenix and Mazlatan Mexico where we board the Silver Explorer and follow the grey whales north to Vancouver. Then a week on Vancouver Island.Home with stops at San Francisco,Tokyo and Bangkok.

Off again in September.Once again Singapore,a week in Japan then Honolulu where we once again board the Silver Explorer to Easter Island via Tahiti.Returning via Bangkok.Probably another stop depending on what award availability there is.

Might have time for a couple of quickies as well!
What’s the huge pull to Bangkok??

I have zero idea (yet) what I might do next year but I am really enjoying reading about the plans of others

I am finishing work at the end of the year and for the first time in my life will be able to see an offer and grab it with both hands. Partner has waited 9 years since his retirement for me to be able to travel outside of peak season i.e. school holidays. I’m relying on the advice of members to tell me whether this is mostly how you travel when you have the freedom to choose ANY dates.....?

Just remember that other countries have different school holiday dates and avoid those like the plague.

Singapore/KL in January
Melbourne for a weekend early February
Melbourne for a week in April
2 and a half weeks US in Sept/Oct - if all goes to plan a week doing some PD at Arkansas State Athletic Department, then a week driving through Tennessee and Kentucky

Well if it is anything like Chirnside then I can understand that it may be a point of debate.

1 Melbourne to Santiago (good deal from Qantas flying Latam)
2 Melbourne to San Francisco (good deal from Air New Zealand)
3 A wedding in California followed by the Isle of Man Manx Electric Railway 125 year celebrations. Working out my best option; perhaps a Oneworld RTW?)

Plus various interstate trips for birthdays and commemorations, etc.

Always keeping an eye on the deals and with a good QF FF balance (>300,000 points for future use).

Retirement keeps me busy!

I'm ticking off a bucket list item and going trekking in the Himalayas in October 2018. Annapurna Base Camp, and I'm training already. I'll be 67 then, so I need to get those miles in the legs.

To balance things off with my wife, who won't be coming to Nepal, we are going to Bali in May.

Locally we are going to the NSW south coast for a few weeks to get more of a feel for the place we are thinking of retiring to. Gaelic Festival in Glen Innes is another destination.
Overseas thinking of NZ for a month or so. I'm also going to Nouméa but will only be staying an hour before flying back home.

I've got a trip to Japan booked next year - it'll be my first time there. I've heard good things about Japan - great culture, amazing food and beautiful scenic views so I'm really excited to visit. I'll miss the cherry blossom but it'll be my excuse to visit again ;)

You won't be disappointed. We made our first trip in April, and Dr&Mrs Ron are annual visitors. Plenty of Trip Reports hereabouts if you are looking for inspiration.

I’m about to book a second trip next year to the UK via Denpasar and Paris in Sept. Qatar companion deals too good to beat.

Taking the family to Fiji for my significant birthday.

Have you been there before? We went there for a second time just over a year ago - the first being our honeymoon in 1972. Our impression was that Fiji has not basically changed. One of the most hospitable places in the world with genuinely friendly people.

No we have never been there before. My children are adults now but we are looking forward to spending time together. Lots of Snorkelling, kayaking, some diving. But mostly looking forward to chilling out together. Really looking forward to our trip and I have heard wonderful things about the people.
