I would say most definitely not. Too much desert.

OK - got it now, but I haven't been.
We were actually there due to an unexpected overnight stay and had time to kill near LAX; I think we caught a free shuttle from the airport hotel. Having spent the last week or so in LA, didn't want to go downtown again etc.OK - got it now, but I haven't been.

In early December there wasn't much swimming to be had, but we did enjoy an ice cream / milkshake at a cafe near the beach. Wasn't much to do, but there are far worse ways to chill for a few hours.
