I'll be in Little Chute Wisconsin. Setting off the fireworks I bought yesterday. Right now it's 11:38am 31/12

New Years on. QF78 was a mixed bag. Lots of happy New Years from the crew. They also ran a competition to win $200 worth of duty free. We had to guess the combined age of the crew. 9 FA and 2 pilots. The answer was 468 years. two people split the prize by being off by one.

At about 11.55pm they came through with glasses of sparkling wine for everyone however there was no announcement or noise at midnight so it passed fairly quietly.

I'm guessing the two Singapore to Perth flights are 2 of very few (or only) QF flights that don't cross a timezone and as such New Years is more easily defined.

The footpath fireworks turned out to be quite good, although I think some of the clocks were out by a few minutes.

I was actually staying at The Darling where they were all staying, and spent a couple of days lounging by the pool with those two plus many others who had joined the ride - it was quite an epic trip, including bar tabs in the hundreds of thousands over a few nights (paid for by the guy who organised it all)!

I wonder if the Casino thought the money was well spent?

Whilst the casino obviously paid for some of it, the reports that it was all funded by them were incorrect. Particularly the chartering of the jet was not by the casino, nor were the nights out partying.

It was privately funded by an associate/friend of many of the stars (confirmed to me by a couple of the celebs who were on the trip).
