Which is why I want to know if there's something fundamentally wrong with a Hisense design as opposed to paying extra for the Vintec brand name.

I wouldn't have thought so. Difference is that Vintec and Transtherm deal mainly with wine cabinets while Hisense deals with a range of whitegoods and electronics.
Comparing it to the Vintec 35 bottle "fridge" that I have - the Hisense has a 3 year warranty vs the Vintec 2 year. Hisense fridge is right had door only, while the Vintec can be change to either left or right hand side opening. The Hisense is retailing at around $720-$740, while the Vintec is $520-$540, so it's around $200 more expensive but you're gaining 23 bottles over the Vintec model.

If you get it from Good Guys, there is a deal on now which allows you to claim 12% cash back on the purchase of this model by way of an "eftpos" card - so there's a further saving there. Problem is that the purchase has to be done by COB 24th April! (Today)

All in all it comes down to getting the best you can afford and based on the space you have available.

Nope no garage. Just a shed that leaks...

I saw a wine "cellar" at a house in AKL a few years ago. Basically it was a shed ( albeit a nice one) lined and insulated with an a/c refrigeration unit ( not sure which it was). It was much larger than a fridge. But it was not a lot different in cost to run as I recall.

i have a vinovault with 54 bottle capacity. i managed to squeeze exactly 54 bottles in. got it for 500 delivered 2 months ago.build quality and design is just as good as the vintec.

After collecting my Rockfords wines from QF WP today. I'm now officially over stocked. Will need to use baby Vintec from here on in.

I have about 30 bottles in my baby Vintec, could squeeze in a couple more. The main issue is bottle length rather than width. The bottom shelf is only suitable for shorter styles.
Various other decent reds are inside the house in various places. Quaffers and chilled whites are in the garage. I probably should upsize and get a larger proper humidity controlled fridge.
Not being from a family of wine buffs and only started drinking Red in the past 5 years I don't have to worry about storage of Rare or Vintage Grange

You may find the bottom shelf suitable for your recent Rockford wines purchase, it worked for me

You only need to worry about humidity for wine sealed under cork.

There are about 12 bottles in the baby Vintec with corks. Most of them are for drinking rather than keeping.

Are you actually sure that humidity is an issue in your Vintec? For $5 or so, you can get a thermometer/hygrometer off ebay. If humidity is on the low side, try putting a small open container with some water in the fridge. That should raise humidity a bit too.

I've managed to fit 43 bottles into a baby Vintec. You can stuff some with the bottoms facing outwards in-between the ones with their tops outward. So there's seven on the top shelf, thirteen each on the middle two and ten on the shorter bottom shelf.

I have the Vintec 32 bottle version. After doing some research on the internet, I concluded it was worth paying the extra for a Vintec over cheaper alternatives, and compared to the value of the wine it was worth it.

Quite possibly, although I bought it last year some time and about 2 months before the previous Penfolds promotion. Was slightly ticked off I missed out, but didn't need a second fridge.

I do similarly in my two nominally 168 bottle each cabinets. Might look a bit untidy, but no matter as my database keeps track of which shelf things are on.

It's basically impossible to keep things orderly within the cabinets when bottles are constantly being added and taken out while maintaining a net near full loading in each.
