Who else still holds the Citibank Free For Life Premier Card?

Rather than leave it to chance - rang Citi on the special number 02 8225 0042...

1) Officially you need to create a new PP account AND use a passcode to set it up. 6 screens of information later I have my new PP up and running. Physical card to be mailed out & digital card at the ready.

2) My old visa CC created account still exists, so I had to create a new account name (another entry in my book of accounts/passwords)

3) Reading some of the above posts about the old account - I checked my old account.....

4) Sad news, 'Membership refreshes November 2020'. So no longer active, no visit passes to be used from the card that is no more.

So will have to be happy with the two free visits per year (again) at zero cost with the Citi MC. 😇 😇

Also today is the last day to transfer Citi points to Velocity for the 30% bonus (15% from Citi and 15% from Velocity).

Good deal if you want Velocity points but not if they're to transfer to Krisflyer (if that ever comes back and assuming the transfer rate remains unchanged).

i think the points have to arrive by today to get the bonus, and thats unlikely now. You really would have wanted to transfer them last week

The confirmation email stated:
"It may take up to 28 business days to complete the Points Transfer to Velocity Frequent Flyer."

Got my bonus Velocity points even though I transferred it from Citibank on the last day!

I only got the email on 5 May! Makes sense and glad that it appears the bonus applies from the transfer date rather than the arrival date.

I've had this card (plus free partner's card) for many years. Main benefit for me is free international travel insurance if cost of trip is charged to the card. No other card insurance I can find covers you if you are over 81.

Makes me wonder just how long this card will continue to exist for after receiving email from new owner (NAB) saying 'we are reviewing existing products & services'.

Fee-free for life would seem to be destined to be 'enhanced' Q-style.

Of course NAB would say that, if they didnt, customers would whine to the end of the earth if the font on the credit card statement changed. of course some trivial things will have to change, so they are just covering their backsides for that, and my recollection of that email was that it included the words "may" make changes not "will". One obvious change will likely be the provider of the free credit card insurance and other simple rationalisations.

i have a NAB credit card that hasnt incurred an annual fee for its entire life of 30 years, it's been grandfathered long ago but they havent taken it away. so there is a track record to comfort some people.

They will be moving all the products onto their own platform over the next few years, so I imagine that there will be things here and there that will change because of that.
Ultimately, though, it will come down to how each product is performing. And Citi does seem to have a different customer mix to NAB.

(Might also be worth noting I have a grandfathered product with NAB, and aside from statements coming on NAB stationery, I am not sure much changed.)

Did you end up receiving a physical card? I was of the understanding that there will only be a digital card...

Another feature is about to bite the dust following the NAB takeover: the ability to book travel through Citi Rewards directly will be discontinued from 1 September, and no bookings are being taken for dates after 31 August. Probably not hugely important (I never used it), but still, not a good trend...

Yeah I learnt that when I tried to use that feature for some flights in November. Oh well. It would have been the first time for me to use it so I guess I can't say I'll miss it.

I guess NAB didnt buy the Citi Travel agency part of the business - wasnt mentioned in the announcements. So not a surprise that product feature is being shut down. I cant think of anything else that Citi provided on this credit card that isnt a part of NABs banking business
