Will Qantas Offer Double Status Credits before Mooted FF Program Changes in 2024?

Fingers crossed for DSC in March. I live in Europe and use the promo every year to help maintain Platinum, but sadly got burned this year as despite being a QF flight #, I flew Emirates to SYD which didn't qualify, and now I've just discovered QF1 is only considered 1 x eligible flight so I'm coming up short 1 flight. I planned to do a status run to Canberra this morning that then got cancelled... universe is telling me to stop chasing and maybe consider another carrier!!!
What about breaking the QF1 trip in Singapore? Is that an option for you?

Yep - overnight in either direction should do it. Might even be the same or very similar price (aside from the cost on the ground). Could use the multi-city booking to test

There's a good reason why no-one asks that ;)
That's right - and if they ever did, it would hopefully and only be after changes to restrict QC & QFF status pax flying on JQ from lounge entry ;)

As someone who flies JQ fairly regularly, I for one wouldn't mind it if QF limits Flounge access only to passengers flying JQ. Opening the lounge up to any Tom, Dick, n' Harry who flies QF or a OneWorld partner really cheapens the experience!

Here's a question to consider that I haven't heard anyone ask: Will JetStar offer a double status credit promotion?
No that would make no sense. QF wants to benefit from the exercise on QF metal for people chasing SC on pricier routes.

There would be no incentive to so it for JQ. Not to mention it would shine a spot light onto JQ as a good way to earn SC for many who don't know.

I tried with Qantas yesterday and they said the cost would blow out as I purchase back in March and would now need to be fully flexible :-(

Ahhh, I just looked this up. Sadly they pushed me onto the next flight with Eastern? and a 25min turnaround in Canberra was just too tight to do the loop

What's with the thread title? I'm pretty sure the part around the FF changes wasn't there before, and I'm not sure of the relevance? I get there's some discussion about it in here but it's... barely on topic at best?

Well unless you change the topic and then it's very much on topic so.. well played, do we need another thread if we just care about a DSC in 2024?

No harm in asking. Worst they’re going to say is “no” ;) That being said, if zero travel takes place I’d think you’re pushing very much uphill!!
I've applied, but realistically I feel it's time to stop chasing, embrace Gold for a year and countdown to the next DSC promo!

New CEO may decide that DSC isn't necessary. But the true indicator - are prices silently going up for the period that the promotion allows you to book flights within?

If the only difference between you getting Platinum or Gold is a single flight, then what about a CA redemption? Might be worth a quick points burn for that extra leg if you value the benefits of WP over SG. Don’t forget that if you are currently WP and drop back to SG, you’ll need an extra 100 200 SCs in order to re-up to WP next time around (although less of an issue with a DSC promo).

extra 200. It's 1400 vs 1200.

QF Reward flights only count towards the QF flight tally if you have Points Club / PC+
Also, it's a difference of 200 SCs for WP retain (1,200) vs attain (1,400)

Cheers,
Matt

Back on DSC, I'm just curious how much people here forward book their known trips when it drops.

Heaps of folks on here, I'd expect. I've generally got various travel plans in mind for each year, early on - family holidays, boys beer trips, sporting events, etc. We tend to travel around the same times of the year, and so we'll have that timing and the short list, and then when the DSC offer is on, we look at best options from what we have on the list vs QF & market pricing, and get to booking.

Cheers,
Matt.
