Will Qantas Offer Double Status Credits before Mooted FF Program Changes in 2024?

It is interesting that both VA and QF have done some strange SC related offerings at the start of this year that are definitely not as good as DSC... Testing the market?

and have not participated in a bonus Status Credit offer in the last 6 months.
I did notice though, that even further down in the T&C's the page says "A Status Accelerator offer includes the 50% Bonus Status Credit offer, Gold Accelerator offer and Platinum Accelerator offer. It does not include any bonus Status Credit offers available to the general public."

So I suppose it's just poorly worded.

As is typical to QF. To be valid, it required a bundle of rights potentially issued to the pax and a special instrument to be created for the CEO.

A random bypasser would think that any aspiring corporate counsel out of grad school could produce more precise and solid T&C's. Perhaps QF Legal, too, is run by the same school experience kids and revolving-door-contractors than IT.

I’ve just booked four international flights and a bunch of domestics. So if it drops tomorrow… you’re welcome. 😉
Thanks! I'm holding off on a booking until tomorrow just in case...

I've played the smart hand, this year... I booked some for my mrs and son in the sale, and will add mine when the DSC shows up ;)

And if there IS a promo but it is not DSC? Maybe +50% such as doing the some corporate rounds right now it seems.

Many of us make assumptions (me included) about what and likely when. We should also be prepared for the chance that it may not be as in the past - or may be. Only QF Loyalty know what the plan is (and a big shout out to any staffers reading!l

Agreed - but at least I've got 66.666666% of the fares at a good sale price this year, and I'll just play the other one as it lies...

If it doesn't happen then I'm looking at a soft landing to Silver...

And I'll need an extra trip or two to the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve to maintain the status. Not a bad proposition, though, if time & money allow.

I think there really needs to be a shakeout of elites who are just hanging on (and I think Qantas does too), so I don't expect there will be a DSC offer. There might be something a la the recent Virgin promo, but that won't get all than many over the line.

Just my 2 bob's worth...

Why do you say that? Lounges don’t seem to be any more busy than there were previously?

Those who only just qualify for WP aren't much of a burden as are probably only using the dom J and int first lounges occasionally. If they make qualifying for that elite status harder, more likely they will fly with another airline.

It's the QPub and Int J lounges that tend to be heaving and that's got more to do with passes from CC than DSC promos.

I don't expect to see anything until the usual late March, only reason may come slightly earlier is because Easter is early this year.

Summer school holidays through last week, and the lounges do tend to be pretty quiet at this time regardless (e.g. SYD DOM closes the QP and everyone goes to the J lounge.. and even then it's still pretty quiet!)... but that said; I have also noticed a lot more talk on Fb groups and amongst friends and travellers I know that they have not been able to make or retain the same or meaningful status as membership year/s come to an end.

The ranks were certainly overfilled in 2022-23, but even with DSC (which I would be willing to bet on showing up again in the next 2 months) I think there'll be enough of a natural cull as the last of the 'status supported' are let go. Members with a year ending 30 Sep 2024 will be that last group, for QFF WP & WP1.

Cheers,
Matt.

Maybe Qantas will choose not to offer DSC this year, but they would be passing on it following a year where their brand hit an all time low of public sentiment and with very ordinary OTP and the very public ousting of their CEO.

I'm not sure I would choose this as the moment to flex that muscle but let's see...

I thought it was June year ends who receive the last of the extensions? Or are you referring to the 75 gift SCs

Some would argue the elite ranks need to be culled to a more sustainable level.

So keep the elites that spend with QF, and discard the freeloaders. Not saying I agree, but it's a valid strategy.

There was a another support measure for WP/WP1s with a Jul-Sep 2023 membership year end to allow qualification with 20% less SCs
