Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

What impact will the Velocity changes have on your status beyond 2025?

Yes, you will need to have earnt 400 status credits yourself on flights. Rest can be by other means.
So if your review date is post October 1, you need to qualify under the new rules?
Even though you've already qualified under existing rules?

Doesn't affect me, but just interesting situation....as soon as you achieve the SCs & sectors the velocity app/website tells you you've qualified for status etc. would be harsh to then on review date tell you sorry you drop a status peg.

It would be nice for the App or website to tell you how many of 'each group' SC's you have (you on Virgin + everything else) as well since otherwise you'd have to go through your transactions and calculate your 'real' requalification progress yourself.

I am still on the 'old system' for the next week or so, so maybe once my 'review' is complete, I will see these new progress bars.

With Hawaiian now exiting Velocity on 1 Jul, and me having FOUR return flights to Hawaii on 10 Jul, there goes my status renewal. Dammit.
No big loss as going forward retaining VA status with international partners will become souch more difficult, just prolonged the inevitable.
Status drop.

The earnings were numbered for a while with the Alaskan involvement with Hawaiian. Also they basically offered nothing in terms of priority boarding or lounge access. I guess they will probably align more to QF.

Sure. It's just disappointing to have chosen an airline based on loyalty partnership to have those benefits removed. It would be more palatable if benefits still applied for existing bookings, but oh well.

I would have earned/retained WP on the basis of the new rules in only one year out of the last 10, I reckon. Lots of SQ flights have kept me ticking over, not many VA flights. So highly likely to drop status next year.

I am still likely to fly VA domestic as the only alternatives are QF and Jetstar, and SQ international because I like them and they have a good network.

Or more oneworld generally.
OT, but HA coming over to OW will mean eligible status PAX will get QF F lounge, additional luggage, priority boarding, preferred seat selection etc. I’m already booked on a QF trip to HNL this year but may look to try HA next year.
