According to reports, coronavirus vaccine is entering its final phase of testing and very soon we will have millions of coronavirus vaccine to be rolled out, hopefully from September.

By then, should a coronavirus vaccine is available, will you vaccinate it?

Personally speaking, as a 30 year old young person, I will not vaccinate myself with Coronavirus, because:

1. It is just a small flu for young people, we won't die;
2. The vaccine is rushed and I cannot guarantee if I vaccinate myself, I will be immune to Coronavirus and not get killed by the vaccine;
3. The coronavirus vaccine is just a step to reopen our borders so that we can travel overseas again.

I am not anti-vaxier, however I only think that Coronavirus vaccine is just a political ticket for politicians to explain to the public that they can now open the international borders again and ease off travel bubbles.

What do you think?

Wow I could stop going to the gym and eat processed junk food to get fat and bump myself up the line too.

Great to see being lazy is rewarded in the US ;)
As you are no doubt aware, someone like you is at minimal long-term risk from Covid. Being fat gives you a slightly increased risk of lots of stuff (much worse if you develop diabetes). Arguably, vaccination is an altruistic act for the community (or a selfish act to allow you to get on a plane)

Here is a report of the FDA meeting on the Pfizer vaccine. It certainly wasn't unanimous and there were a few worries.basically the excalating number of cases in the USA swung the decision to an Emergency approval.

Some more vaccine news.First the advice on allergic reactions to that vaccine.

Another vaccine has a delay.

Astra is to begin trials of it's vaccine in combination with the Sputnik vaccine.

And another new type vaccine starting trials.

So the concerns seemed to be that they didn't want to vaccinate people under 18, and that a large number of Americans have extreme allergies, and would be ineligible for the vaccine? I'm not sure I would delay the roll out simply on the basis of those with extreme allergies.

I think priority should be given to those who participated in the trials but received the placebo! That seems fair!

But there's the problem. The Phase 3 trials are designed to go along for quite a deal longer than 2-3 months. If those that have the placebo are vaccinated at this time there will not be a completed trial. The number of cases of Covid so far in the trial is low and quite possibly the effectiveness may prove to be quite different with a longer trial.

I'm not sure of the ethical - or legal - position of refusing those who have had the placebo from receiving a vaccination now it has been authorised.

Apparently the participants can unmask themselves at any time in the US according to that article. So at that point they would know if they have or haven't been vaccinated. If they then chose to get vaccinated, I think they deserve priority.

Just noticed the spelling error in the heading. I think we're talking about a Coronavirus vaccine, not a Conoravirus vaccine!

Cheers skip

It has received Emergency authorisation not full authorisation.Remember HCQ received Emergency authorisation as well.

I will definitely not get vaccination.

I will definitely not get vaccination

I am curious as to what level of Inconvenience you will accept as one of a very small group of unvaccinated persons in au...
Will you accept that you cannot fly to most destinations when travel restrictions are lifted ?
Will you accept that you are functionally uninsurable unvaccinated ?
Will your employer facilitate normal employment conditions given that you may host and spread the virus ?

Allow me to rephrase the question for the sake of clarity.
Do you prefer:
(A) the world as it was on 15 December 2019; or
(B) the world as it is on 15 December 2020?

"153 people have died from COVID-19 related causes" is NOT the same as "153 people have died from COVID-19".

153 people did not die from C-19. It means they could have died in a car accident, tested positive - and boom - death chalked up as 'Covid related'. This is exactly how deaths are being recorded.

More shoddy 'journalism' from Australian media.

There are bound to be sellout 'experts' that want to see Sweden fail so that it helps justify the destructive lockdowns and narrative of 2020.
This year is full of lies everywhere. Everywhere. It's okay to question things and do your own research. Everyone should.

leads to.. so you won't be bothering with vaccination t-t-r ?

I'm not in a high-risk group so it's not a priority.

Pfizer has said their vaccine won't stop you spreading viruses to other people, nor will it mean you can't get the virus, nor will it mean you won't need future jabs. I guess with the trial mRNA tech (that modifies your NDA) they're using there are a lot of unknowns on future health impacts at this early stage.

But ultimately it will be interesting to know how the world measures the success rate of vaccines. That will be the indicator to know it's worth all this effort, lockdowns, money lost, invested into vaccines etc. Like what will the measurement for success be?
Perhaps if C-19 survival rate goes up from 99.7% to 99.8%?

Nothing is 100% guaranteed and I'm comfortable with that.

So the Prime Minister of Sweden who is saying that his own Governments approach has been a failure - in his own words - “It is a clear and sharp signal to every person in our country as to what applies in the future. Don’t go to the gym, don’t go the library, don’t have dinner out, don’t have parties – cancel!” - is one of those "sellout 'experts' that want to see Sweden fail". I think not. I simply see him as someone who has come to grips with the fact that the previous approach has failed. To quote the King of Sweden -

"Statement by H.M. The King on November 17, 2020:

"We must all take our responsibility and continue the joint efforts and efforts to stop the spread of infection.

Hold on. Hold on! "

CARL GUSTAF"

I'm not sure about that analysis?

There are a couple of different figures around, but I'd say 153 people dying from covid actually means they died due to the effects of covid. This could be respiritory failure, or blood clotting or whatever.

That's different to the other figure which lists people dying with covid. That could include someone in a car accident who tested positive.

Did the article say or claim that "153 people have died from COVID-19" as opposed to saying "153 people have died from COVID-19 related causes" ? I think not. So why was the journalism shoddy?

There are bound to be sellout 'experts' that want to see Sweden fail so that it helps justify the destructive lockdowns and narrative of 2020.

Well, I'm not sure if the Swedish PM regards himself as an expert, let alone a "sellout expert", but when he's talking about his own country, and the responses under his watch, he's gotta be credited with some standing, surely?

I know several doctors who are citing this as a real roadblock for the vaccine. Given the mortality rate is so small, and the chance of becoming physically sick is slim, as best, there is an expectation that many will say “why risk an unknown vaccine when the risk from the virus is minuscule”.

Realistically... vaccinate the “at risk” and that may well be enough. A huge portion of the population has never even had a flu shot. There’s a good chance they won’t have this one either (and really nor do they need to).

Today’s events really proved that. Three people in Sydney got said virus. I’ve seen countless “news” reports stating “borders in doubt” or “Queensland border open for now” but not one that asks if these people are ok.
