According to reports, coronavirus vaccine is entering its final phase of testing and very soon we will have millions of coronavirus vaccine to be rolled out, hopefully from September.

By then, should a coronavirus vaccine is available, will you vaccinate it?

Personally speaking, as a 30 year old young person, I will not vaccinate myself with Coronavirus, because:

1. It is just a small flu for young people, we won't die;
2. The vaccine is rushed and I cannot guarantee if I vaccinate myself, I will be immune to Coronavirus and not get killed by the vaccine;
3. The coronavirus vaccine is just a step to reopen our borders so that we can travel overseas again.

I am not anti-vaxier, however I only think that Coronavirus vaccine is just a political ticket for politicians to explain to the public that they can now open the international borders again and ease off travel bubbles.

What do you think?

I didn't realise I needed a tinfoil hat to read this thread :p

I do think a contributing factor to their second wave could have been their lack of immigration controls from hotspots. Even if you let your own citizens do the herd immunity thing, if you introduce the unknown variable of occasional foreign risks then that can spike whatever is happening (or not) in your country.

I know several doctors who are citing this as a real roadblock for the vaccine. Given the mortality rate is so small, and the chance of becoming physically sick is slim, as best, there is an expectation that many will say “why risk an unknown vaccine when the risk from the virus is minuscule”.

Realistically... vaccinate the “at risk” and that may well be enough. A huge portion of the population has never even had a flu shot. There’s a good chance they won’t have this one either (and really nor do they need to).

Today’s events really proved that. Three people in Sydney got said virus. I’ve seen countless “news” reports stating “borders in doubt” or “Queensland border open for now” but not one that asks if these people are ok.

99.7% survival rate is a "roadblock for the vaccine".... ?? Sounds to me like some folks are more addicted to getting vaccines than they are wanting to be in a state of health & well-being.

Maybe it's important to note what positive infections are classified as C19 - the CDC lists these as "PIC" on their website.
Anyone testing positive for any type of Pneumonia, or Influenza or Covid (P-I-C) are all classified as C19.

I wonder how Sweden classifies theirs?

I will definitely not get vaccination

I am curious as to what level of Inconvenience you will accept as one of a very small group of unvaccinated persons in au...
Will you accept that you cannot fly to most destinations when travel restrictions are lifted ?
Will you accept that you are functionally uninsurable unvaccinated ?
Will your employer facilitate normal employment conditions given that you may host and spread the virus ?
Well Im one of those who many would consider steady steady. I dont need to rush out and get the latest fad gaget to impress my friends or family nor am I keen to rush in to get a vaccination that may have real side effects that could kill or cause more harm than good. I have never had a flu vaccine and cope quite well with corona viruses in the past and Ive had some beauty's let me tell u. And most of them when I have returned from OS. I don't bother with doctor's and if I feel like I have the flu I stay home period. I have no.debts so work is not an issue unless I need to wipper snip the 3 acres Im on, then I hire a garden person. As for flying yes I miss that, but Ive done heaps of that so no big deal. I'll just wait a year or 2 and see how the vaccinated fair. 99% who catch coid 19 recover. Thats bloody good odds. No need for vaccination IMO. Eat more plant based meals exercise a little stop listening to MSM. And always ask questions and if something dont makes sense thats because it dont. GL.

Not sure why you are on this forum if you are going to deliberately rule yourself out of travel in the next year or so!
Im exercising my right to answer a question that was put to me.

Those who get the flu vaccine get more benefits than just reducing the chance of the flu.

Whereas those who get the flu have an increased risk of heart attacks in the few weeks after the flu.

Ok so what your saying is you might live longer than those who dont get the flu jab. Lol we are all going to die sooner or later. Dont fear it. Its as nature intended.

@johnnk I have no fear of death. It is going to happen. However I have been in charge of a flu ward and it is not pleasant to see young people die a horrible death.flu causes severe disease in younger people than covid particularly if an H1N1 strain.

As a medico, do you think that systemic autoimmune illnesses (I wont bother listing them) qualify as first access to the vaccine? I also read today of a young teen in USA who died from Covid extremely quickly - she had juvenile scleroderma. I know my GP already has that on her list for me.

Well I was just about to post this.So yes you should have some priority.

Three has quickly become 17 though.

Have we asked are these 17 people are ok? No, it’s all about borders
I am sure it has been asked however I also see it as a different part of the conversation. Just as important but different.
The rapid increase to 17 puts quite a different emphasis on things IMHO.

Im talking about the mainstream media and public opinion. There’s no concern for the actual virus itself. The majority of articles simply talk about border closures. The fact that NSW managed to jump on this so quickly and find cases so quickly is very much a positive, but we’ve clearly lost track of the actual issue at hand.

An interesting discussion for somewhere else however it’s time we went back the topic of this thread.

But does it?
A cluster like Crossroads but took some time for all cases to be found.
Now the Northern beaches are rather insular - yes pun intended - and have come out in great numbers so maybe they have found a greater proportion of cases.
We have now learnt a bit more about management and there has been a lockdown of sorts in that area which i think is the correct way to do lockdowns.

And yes I think the Victorian Ombudsman is misguided in her critiscism of the Tower lockdowns in Victoria. It was needed.
