Wine Glasses, Decanters etc

Unlike QF WP's glass, these days we have a mix of most types of Riedels - original Vinum stemmed for Chard, SB and general plus Shiraz and Pinot plus some specials for champagne and port. Plus we have a set of 4 types of stemless which we use for everyday drinking whites, Pinot, Shiraz, Cabernet and dessert wines. Stemless survive dishwasher better, although we lose 4-6 stemmed and maybe 3 stemless a year. Stemmed are lead based so craze and whiten in dishwasher. You could be wash by hand but out of 365 washes you will also lose a few.

Plus I have a new set of Zalto universal and Pinot glasses for fun. Dishwasher safe.

Some I bought in Germany after shows in Köln but most from Peters of Kensington in annual or periodic sales over last 20 years.

Zalto from somewhere I don't remember. GIYF.

If you really want lab flasks I'm pretty sure anyone can buy from this company Livingstone International Healthcare, Laboratory, pharmac_, Medical Supplies Order Online - 2 litre about $14 plus GST - not sure about postage and handling

If you're going down that path then you'd also get a magnetic stirrer as well for aeration.

I was looking for some new glasses after a few too many casualties from our current set. We're a household where all wine types are enjoyed from the same glass style, as long as that glass has an elegant shape, pleasant holding feel and pleasant lip feel. And goes easily into the dishwasher!

Somewhere you wouldn't expect to find them, Spotlight (of all places!) currently has some specials on Riedel sets:

I would not have expected that. Not bad pricing, either.

I saw them in Spotight last time they had 40% off store wide. Good price but tney don't have the full range obviously.

Exactly Glider - we drink so little white wine that is a minor consideration - all reds same glasses in our household.

We are a fan of stemless glassware for white and red wine .... of course different styles for specific wine types :) any sparkling wine must be served in really tall glasses though as it looks soooo much better :)

On that very topic of Riedel glasses - apart from an online search does anybody have a clue as to a supplier where they can be sourced at discounted prices? (Stemmed glasses that is)

I notice that stemless glasses are becoming more popular. I'm not a fan. I still like to hold the glass up by the stem and look at the wine without fingers in the way.

I love Riedels but frankly spiegelau much better value and Victoria's Basements have a very good home brand glass (Benzer) at about 1/4 of Riedel prices.
