Woolworths gift card thread

I noticed yesterday at Woollies in Crows Nest (NSW) signs at the entrance to the self-serve area that you cannot buy gc with gc. I am sure these were not there last week. I haven't 'tested' them recently but have certainly bought gc with Wish cards there in the past.

If that is the trend we are headed towards, my amex spend is going to drop by 90%. Dan, going to have to rely on churning and who knows how that will turn out after open banking happens

In my experience. Some stores put these up because sometimes activation fails and it's easier for them to go through manned. And is more a store by store policy

Indeed but when I tried at a self checkout I got an error and was made to go to a manned checkout. I think this window is closing fast!

Cant think of exact wording but something like "you cant buy these gift cards at unmanned checkout and need to go to a manned one".

Notwithstanding the fact I just generally try to avoid dealing with attendants if possible, it will be even more important to find friendly checkout staff as I can foresee overzealous interpretation of the rules.

Yes I go for self serve too. However 70% of my stores have a sign saying no gift card purchases at self serve. So manned is the only option

I'd much rather use manned and be able to buy gc with gc instead of this new software update some in SA are experieing

I purchased a few today and was scared the eftpos machine or the check out screen was going to show an error when I chose gc

Anyone else's woolworths app not working for the past few hours.
My totals aren't updating

Was in a shop. With poor internet access and half way through my totals wouldn't update so I couldn't work out which cards had zero balances
Then had to leave the shop. Mid way of transaction to go to car outside to try and add another ecard

Very embarassing
