Woolworths gift card thread

It's always a challenge but the media reported today that Woolworths' real sales rise for 'existing' stores was very good (and ahead of Coles.) This is the measure where you strip out any effect from the opening of new stores.

It caused a large share spike upwards today.

Just left another Woolworths with no cards. These are going to become a rare commodity I think

yes same here, this one i ve been checking for about a week daily, no $100 cards at all,

however I think the $50 increased, (but im not sure)
they even had a sign saying sold out of $100 cards

Had enough today. Visit 8 stores - Only 3 stores have $100 Total bought 35 cards. enough is enough - I will sit back and waiting for Coles prepaid MC !

Ive only started on the whole gift cards, whats the frequency or likelihood of the coles offer? and what was it again?

Health insurance just ordered another amex $1200 ecards....5am up for walk to store! Wonder if wrc will block today?

Yep thumb over the little one to scan it!

I picked up the remaining 3 from my local store (3809) this morning, 8 total for me.

No more coming stock I've been told.

I covered the small barcode last night, but each time it said that I was scanning it wrong (not the card's barcode) and I had to acknowledge this on screen. However each card was still charged the $105.95 price and I got the activation receipt. This was a different experience the other cards I purchased throughout the day.

Plenty of them at my local today...

seems to be some inconsistencies between shops. most of them havent asked any questions while ive been standing at the self serve for 20 minutes doing my thang. then in one shop the supervisor comes up to me and makes me cancel the cards i had put through (but not paid or activated yet) and redirects me to the service desk. there were signs up on all the self serves saying "No gift cards through the self serves". so i then proceeded to waste her time buy putting 10 cards through paying in increments of $100 e gift cards. then in another shop, they compliment you on taking advantage of a good deal and say things (which i already knew) like "just put them through 4 at a time then i wont have to approve them".

i thought the aim of sending people to manned check outs is to enforce the 5 -10 max per person and/or to avoid egift cards.....

strange

hahaha welcome to the world. over jeazlous staff and workers making it difficult for people to get a bargain, it's hard to survive in Australia you know. Why are they doing or making it difficult

When you are exploiting loopholes you are best to take the inconsistencies as you find them. Vendors could enforce uniformity from above but it may well be to our disadvantage.

getting $10 off a $100 gift card that you pay $105.95 and making a profit is the selling point of the campaign so its not a loophole

but will woolworths consider using a egfit card a loop hole?

The issue here isnt using egift card or not (this is allowed).
The issue here is using self checkout or not for gift cards.
Some are crazy control freaks and want to do it some let you. Who knows why they do this. I thought it's better if self check out, you (staff) dont have to do anything.

Like the coles staff who said to me - "Next time go to a bigger (manned) checkout, I dont want to have to approve these next time".

so what is the "loophole" in regards to self checkout vs manned checkout?

there is no difference unless its to monitor how many you buy or clog up the checkout machines
