Woolworths gift card thread

Starting this Wednesday (24/4/2019), get 1000 bonus points when you buy a $100 Only 1 VISA gift card. $5.95 fee per card.

Since the WOW and Amex enhancements, I’d make a loss on this deal.

Happy to hear any known work arounds via PM.
for me, it would cost 1.9cents per point for the extra earned on the edge (qantas mastercard)
if you have the dragon visa then its 1.43cents per extra FF points.
It may be worthwhile if you have the dragon.

I ditched the Dragon just before Amex announced, so I’m in the sin bin for several more months. :(

Just thinking about the Only1 Visa cards. So they can't be purchased with a 5% discount gift card. But does anyone know if you can purchase a 5% discount wish card with an Only1 Visa card?

Definitely can be done. Not sure why you'd do it though.

Because I'd rather be paid $4.05 for my purchase than pay $0.95.
$105.95 - $5 (1000 woolworths points) = $100.95 which gets a $100 gift card and $5 credit still on the Only1visa.

Obviously not open ended, limited to the value of goods normally purchased.

I'm confused.
So if you spent $100 on a wish gift card 5% off you'd pay $95 by buying directly.

So instead of buying directly and paying "cash" $95 for the $100 WISH gift card, you are "paying" $95.95 because the only1 visa card cost you $100.95.
So in the end you still paid 95cents more for the $100 WISH gift card? and now you are stuck spending within the WOOLWORTHS group instead of a visa card that can be spent anywhere?

Plus I still have $5 on the only 1 visa card, don't forget. I'm $4.05 in front, compared to buying a wish gift card for $95
I note that not buying the wish gift card means paying $0.95 for a handful of credit card points, which I'll get as well.
I have to buy from supermarkets to survive.
I never said the benefit was open ended.

Or if you but $100 egift card it costs $95, so net saving $5 (better than $4.05 on your visa 1 suggestion).

You will miss only out on about 15 Amex points (divided by 2 for most airline points) if using Platinum Edge to buy discounted egift card, less points if buying with a credit card that earns less points.

As mentioned above you are worse off buying Visa1 in your example than if you just purchased Woolies egift card to spend at woollies.
