Woolworths gift card thread

Colleague of mine told me about this offer and decided to buy $200 worth of Accor cards only to find out the T&Cs say they can only be used in AU/NZ/FJ and only on normal rates (i.e. Accor+ rates need not apply). What's the point of having Accor+ if you are penalized for using it like this?

The joke here being that scammers who impersonate the ATO often demand victims pay them in Apple gift cards.
sorry but if anyone answers their phone, believes the other end of the line is from the ATO & proceeds to believe you must pay an overdue amount & it can/must be done in Apple iTunes gift cards, well then I can only say, well can't say what I'd really say to that person, but leave it at that you walked into that one all on your own, how about think a little next time.

Back OT, I didn't buy WW gift cards last time as reward dropped too much, see how next round offer goes.

Getting back on topic (I think) the 20x offer on Apple gift cards ain't new (I believe Woolies offers this at least once a quarter IIRC). What is interesting though is that these cards can be used on more than just iTunes. In particular they can be used at the Apple Store to buy things. Where I could see this being useful are those of us looking to buy a new iPhone in the near future (i.e. when Apple releases them in October), and using said gift cards to offset the cost of the purchase. What is less clear to me, though is how this compares to Qantas shopping, and cashback portals. I reckon a 20x bonus will offer a better bang for the buck than even the most generous portal bonus?

Yes, this is frequently covered on ozbargain and some of the travel blog websites like point hacks. Most of the time, the latest devices are excluded from the cashback/points portals, but occasionally they sneak in during a promo.

So far in 2023, Woolworths has run this promotion five times and Big W three times so it's basically a monthly occurrence at this point. If you include Coles as well then it's almost fortnightly.

Qantas Shopping and a lot of the cashback offers allow you to pay with Apple gift cards so it's often not a question of one or the other, though as exceladdict pointed out, new release devices tend to be excluded from those portals for a few months.

Can one pay qantas shopping and cashback website like shopback with Apple gift cards ?

I suppose the real question here isn't whether that's possible but what would count for QFF points and cashback: the total amount when checking out at Apple or the price after applying the gift card?

Qantas Shopping does not exclude payments with Apple gift cards but the Velocity eStore does. With the cashback portals, you have to check the terms of the individual offers but I believe most allow gift card payments on Apple purchases.

The tracked spend is usually the purchase price less GST in my experience. Using gift cards does not dilute the amount of points you earn or the cashback you receive.
