Woolworths gift card thread

Anyone know if these cards are locked to particular retailers? The pets and vets or dining cards should be able to be used online for anything seeing as they’re a visa?
There are two types of cards in this promotion, prepaid cards and category cards. Prepaid cards can be used almost anywhere that Visa is accepted but they have purchase fees ($5.95 for the $50 and $100 cards included in this promotion). Category cards can only be used at specific merchant categories that correspond to the theme of the gift card but they don't have purchase fees:
Prepaid Cards:
Activ Visa Prepaid, Birthday, Congrats, Gaming and Petrol & Auto gift cards
can be used anywhere that Visa is accepted, both in-store and online.

Category Cards:
OnlyONE Spa & Beauty gift cards can be used at Beauty and Barber Shops (7230), Health and Beauty Spas (7298), Miscellaneous Personal Services (7299), Lodging – Hotel, Motels, Resorts (7011), Massage Parlors (7297).

OnlyONE Fast Food gift cards can be used at Eating Places, Bars, Nightclubs, Pubs and Restaurants (5812,5813,5814) Amusement Parks, Circuses, Carnivals, and Fortune Tellers (7996).

OnlyONE Dining gift cards can be used at Eating Places and Restaurants (5812), Hotels, Motels & Resorts, Central Merchant (7011), Amusement Parks, Circuses, Carnivals, and Fortune Tellers (7996), Membership Clubs (Sports, Recreation, Athletic), Country Clubs, and Private Golf Course (7997).

OnlyONE Night Out gift cards can be used at Eating Places and Restaurants (5812), Drinking Places (Alcoholic Beverages) – Bars, Taverns, Nightclubs, coughtail Lounges, and Discotheques (5813), Fast Food Restaurants (5814) – Ticket Agencies and Theatrical Producers (7922), Bowling Alleys (7933), Tourist Attractions and Exhibit (7991), – Video Game Arcades/Establishments (7994), Amusement Parks, Circuses, Carnivals (7996).

OnlyONE Home Improvement, DIY & Tradie gift cards can be used at Roofing, Siding, and Sheet Metal Work Contractors (1761), Hardware, Equipment and Supplies (5072) Paint, Varnishes and Supplies (5198), Home Supply Warehouse Stores (5200), Lumber and Building Materials Stores (5211), Glass, Paint, and Wallpaper Stores (5231), Hardware Stores (5251), Floor Covering Stores (5713), Commercial Footwear (5139).

Activ Pets & Vets gift cards can be used at Veterinary Services (0742), Farm Management Services (0763), Pet Shop, Pet Foods, Supplies Stores (5995) & Pet Insurance (single purchase, not available for installment/recurring payments) (6300).
Therefore, the only gift cards worth buying in this promotion are the category cards as they can be used at hotels, restaurants, Bunnings etc. depending on the card you purchase.

Are visa activ birthday available as a variable card?
Wouldn't that be nice. Sadly, I've only ever seen $50 and $100 Visa Activ Birthday and Congrats gift cards at Woolworths. That the terms haven't excluded a variable version of those cards in this or the last Visa Activ promotion would suggest that they're not stocked.

The named cards are locked.

Despite the fee, very much worth buying if you know how to make valued use of the points/are looking for points club plus/are short a few points for a reward purchase.

Looks like 1.2c/qffp, does that seem correct by your calcs?

Yes. And that's good value for me. The value all depends on how you use the points.

If I was in Australia I'd be buying these. But I'm currently in the US for 3 months (J airfare and 80% of accommodation all due to points).

Surely not using Qantas points for hotels?

Just bought 10 x $200 of these. Points credited and transferred to QFF almost instantly. Happy days!!

Just did the same with the same result. Points in the account (presumably) before I’d even left the store. Too easy!

Did get an interrogation from the manager about what I was buying them for though. Just an iPhone mate.

When I bought some gift cards last week I was spoken to by the check out operator as if I was the one who was scamming people, not the person potentially being scammed 🤯

I was quite upfront with the lovely assistant who served me at the express lane checkout and I told her that I haven't been scammed but I am buying them to get a new iPhone 15 when it comes out and the 20x points is too hard to resist. We had a lovely chat about what she occasionally sees regarding (usually elderly) people getting scammed - its really sad.

Just bought a $100 card using a bunch of spare change (10 x $5 bills, 2 x $10 bills, 10 $2 coins and 10 $1 coins) using self-checkout. For those wondering why so much change, I organize a coffee program at my workplace where coworkers are asked to chip in to fund the Nespresso Vertuo capsules I buy. So as you can imagine after several months I'm left with a huge bag of coins and dollar bills.

Speaking of - is there any limit on self-checkout at Woolies in terms of how much cash/coins I can use? Ideally, I'd like to "liquidate" this change into valuable Apple gift cards at the present 20x bonus offer. I'm aware that some bank machines, namely CommBank can handle such large quantities of change but I'm not a CommBank customer nor do I have any inclination of opening up yet another bank account.

I bought a $50 Apple card today and got the 1000 points. The points seem to have bumped me up to 2000 points which transferred to QF and immediately reversed back to my Everyday Rewards account. Is QF down or something? Usually these things go through instantly or within 5 minutes with no dramas.

As described above my points credited within minutes and transferred across to QFF on the 17th and they have stayed there. No reversals.
