I've found lately any e-gift purchases through CR the emails haven't come through and i've had to request the emails. Checked my junk mail etc and they weren't there so who knows. Support has been good though.

I'd be interested to know how people are finding a use for $5k of e-gift cards though.

Well I don't know what algorithm they are using!
I am a previous user (though setup the account 1 week ago).
I have had cards take 3 hrs, some 24hrs.
All too weird!

Is the reported time frame the same when you purchase via NRMA 5% off which redirects to the WW gift card site?

When I first heard about cash rewards and entertainment book and 5% off I thought I had found a loophole.
I was almost reluctant to tell others in case if it got too popular and they withdrew the offer.

Do you think if 5% off became too popular woolworths would stop it?

That's always a little fear I have

I doubt they'd stop it as I imagine they still make a profit out of eWish cards, even at 5% off. As with most gift cards, a lot of the profit is made by people not redeeming the card or the full amount. All it takes is one customer out of twenty to forget to redeem an eWish card and the 5% discount is recovered.

Obviously though everyone on this forum always ensures that every cent of value is extracted from their gift cards.

Nope, there have been a number of cautionary tales told by members on this forum who have simply forgotten about their gift vouchers. Some have contacted the providers after the expiry date and been successful in extending the expired gift card.

I would not shop at WW if it were not for the Wish cards. I would also shop less at Dan Murphys. Its also the only reason I'd go to Caltex. I have never had any breakage on a Wish card but I'm sure they are still ahead

I threw away a card when I miscalculated the 6c fuel discount on the run at the bowser and the final amount of discounted petrol was 1 cent less than the remaining card value. Kicking myself but.

IIRC WOW gross margin sits around 28-29% ..... a few punters buying GC won't hurt the bottom line.

I think woolies has a same store growth problem so they would be reticent to kill this offer in the little while yet... but coles, being in a position of strength, can afford not to be so generous with these cards

I think the only1 deal would have made a minor dent especially if its true that people were stealing only1 cards from other stores and activating it at woolworths. They probably had a set amount that they were willing to spend on the promotion and it was obvious they were going over.

Because since then, the david jones and myer card promotions of 10 per customer limit was never enforced at terminal nor via staff members.

While we do get 5% off, it effectively means 5% you have to spend at one of their group stores. So it may unintentionally cause people to 'spend extra' just to use up the card, or because they feel like they're getting a discount, or because using a card is less intuitive than using cash (ie you are less aware of what you're spending compared to when you hand over physical cash). With margins in the 20%s, I agree that WOW will almost always end out on top.

The fact they have a staff discount card at 5% shows that 5% is well within their margins to be able to offer.

Most of what I can buy at DJ or Myers I can normally get cheaper elsewhere even with theextra 10% off.

Wuth these GCs I would imagine that WOW gets a kickback from DJ and Myers such that they are still making money. Particularly as the Myers deal gets repeated so often.
