Woolworths gift card thread

I put no more than 4 in to keep to the $500 limit to avoid intervention. It kept asking for manual intervention each time I scanned one and she needed to type in a login to clear it. Much more manually intensive than before. Going to try another store and report back if it happens again.

That is so strange..
Did you accidentally scan the small barcode too by any chance?

I must have missed something - why are you guys buying the Visa one GCs at all; the bonus offer has expired?

For me its $0.65 for $1:3pts.. no brainer. Compared to my stgeorge visa which converts to $1:0.84 (after birthday bonus)

The Myer GCs worked immediately for me today (nice 15% discount). I mention this as DJ cards seem to take 24h to activate

Just bought some more Visa One GCs at another Woolies store. No issue at self serve. Hopefully a one off rather than some system changes that are coming.

I bought 2x4 today with no dramas

Of course this is just guessing but it's possible they were one of the stores that went into the severely negative with people checking out with stolen GCs during the recent promo, would explain harsher restrictions at one place.

Is it possible to buy the various gift cards such as jb hi-fi. Jetstar etc online and receive them in egift cars format?

I'm looking to use 5% discounted wish gift cards but have them emailed to me rather than pick them up

No.

_______

My local woolies sells Jetstar gift cards.
There is no writing on the back whatsoever.
Are these gift vouchers or some form of visa cards Becasue when you pay online for flights they sting you hard on surcharges if using credit cards.

Anyone know what the deal is?

The Gift cards are good for Jetstar. have used a few recently. If you pay a part of the fare with a gift card there is no booking fee whatsoever, even if you pay the balance with a credit card. there is a catch tho...

you need to use the entire balance of the gc in one transaction or you forfeit the remaining balance on the GC. i.e if ther fare is $45 and you have a $50 card, you will forfeit the $5 left on the card.

Can you use GCs if doing a price beat? I personally found price beats waive credit card fee anyway

awesome! thank you,
I found it odd that the jetstar gift card had no writing on the back, even the value

so it looks like the best is to use the amount just unde the cost of the flight, so you dont lose any credit

How does Woolworth's process the e-gift card purchase? Manually?

I find it really annoying that sometimes, it takes more ~12 hours+ to process something - then when I ring up they say its with their online verification team. But sometimes, it clears within 1-2hours....

Is there someone sitting in Bella Vista manually signing off on each individual purchase? Would be much more efficient to implement some sort of Amex Safekey system to reduce fraud risk and increase security (if that is what they are concerned with)...

Depends if you are previous user and or if certain things are flagged as red on your account.

Ive made number of purchases all high limit 5-10k and no issues. always 1-3 hrs turn around.

Same here.

I've done 5k a few times and it's been pretty quick

The only bummer about 5k is that send you a spreadsheet and you have to cut and paste via phone and that is a pain. I assume it's to do with the number of cards you order and not value that gives you a spreadsheet

Also depends on the card provider and the time taken for them to transfer. I found Amex issued amex is always pretty quick. Westpac took over 24 hours.
