Woolworths gift card thread

I've just bought 2 lots 22 GCs all up in 2 orders. Very impressed, email came through within a few hours. Usually takes much longer to get the email when order more than 4 as manually processed and get the spreadsheet. I'm quite impressed. At this rate if my maths is right, getting visa1's at $99.91 which is cost free MR on Platinum Edge. Would buy more only don't want to risk having so much $$ in GCs. Though finding I'm using them more since the switch (for Citi initially anyway) to the new lower earn regime.

Why not buy more now at the 5.7% discount but not convert them until ready to use? Only risk that way is if Wooloworths folds.

Today was the first time I hit the "change credit limit" button and quite surprisingly I was instantly approved for a 3.7k increase (although i requested 5k). Pretty good, mean's I don't have to pay upfront for more cards..

I've had two orders - one this morning (4x GCs) and yesterday (20 GCs) - not received yet. Had a third for 4 GCs last night (the first order placed) which came through this morning. As long as the order is in, that's the main part I guess.

Should I wait until tomorrow then call?

I'd call after 24 hrs.

If only there was a way to put all these multiple $100 cards onto one CC/Visa - What do others do when the amount is more than $100?

I can only prepay my bills so much. :)

This has been discussed before. I doubt you'll find many who want to keep publicising the gaps that exist in the system. Suffice to say yes there are methods to aggregate and/or potentially cash out these types of cards. Some methods were shut down within the last year after increased patronage after being discussed openly in forums like this. Other methods do still exist.

But is it such a bad thing to be able to use these cards at places that wouldn't normally take AMEX or give you such a good points return? I'd be grateful for the opportunities that you currently have.

I agree with this. I think these cards are a great way to pay non Amex accepting expenses and get supermarket Point earn (for those of us with a Platinum Edge card), it's not worth putting it at risk by trying to turn them into cash without spending them. Not only will it be shut down due to money laundering concerns, may also **** down this nice way to earn Amex points with merchants who don't accept it. I think that's the best way to maximize the long term value of this opportunity.

I bought a few more Visa 1's today but I seem to have mixed one up with my existing cards.

Long story, cut short: it is now saying it's invalid when I tried to use it (probably because I checked the balance within 24 hours). Will this fix itself after 24 hours? Do I go back to Woolies? Do I have to ring?

Thanks in advance.

Id wait 24 hrs and see what happens.

I think my error was that I checked the balance (thought it was one of the old cards), rather than actually spending it..

So after waiting 24 hours I tried the declined card again and it went through no problem. Tried a second of my new cards, no problem. A third card, no problem. Fourth card was an old card that had been used a few times but still had more than enough $ to cover the transaction: "declined". Tried a different card: "declined". WTF?

Then I noticed that on both occasions the "invalid" and "declined" were the 4th transactions (paying my electricity bill by 'phone). Perhaps there is a limit on the number of cards used at E-Oz on the same phone call.

Will try again tomorrow.

Why do these people make it so hard for me to give them my money...........

Glad to hear issue resolved.

Possibly. Although I have used more than 10 cards in a single day to pay bills for strata, health insurance (40 in one day) and council rates via Australia Post online payment portal.

I know how you feel - we have plenty of DJ gcs at the moment due to various Amex offers. Mrs SydneySwan has just returned from shopping at DJs having completely forgotten she had gcs in her wallet. She has promised to go back tomorrow to refund and rebuy with the gcs.
