Woolworths gift card thread

New to the wonderful world of eGift cards - whats the general wait time from purchase via Cash Rewards to actually receiving them?
Fully appreciate the confirmation email says 24 hours etc, however I noted trawling through this lengthy thread that people can receive within a few hours?
I purchased @ 1630 yesterday arvo and still nothing.
Any info from experience is appreciated.

Cheers

Generally depends on how many you've bought in one batch. Also, for your first purchase, it will take longer until you've established your buying pattern.
In my situation, when I'm buying 5 GCs or less, I usually receive them within a few hours even on weekends.

My woolies has updated their firmware at the self checkout's.
When you scan one card, it ask's to make sure you want to buy it or something. (tick a box) . Happens for all 4 cards.
After swiping 4 , attendant needs to come over and ok it with their code then you continue on to pay.
Used to be fully self serve with no intervention needed.

It does vary. 2 to 3 ours is fairly normal. But I have also had it take 12 to 24 hours.

Yes this was just installed at my local Woolworths. Was not there yesterday, but on shopping today on the self-serve the screen has an all new look and functionality.

One of these functionalities is that you have to wait at the end for the operator to approve your debit gift card purchases. I would guess that it may be for all gift card types, but I was only purchasing the prepaid debit cards.

As you get a whole new software interface, Woolworths will no doubt roll this out at all stores.

This will make it all too easy to enforce caps. ie Buying beyond 4 per trip.

I bought 8 in two lots of 4 as this operator did not care. I hope it remains that way, but I have my doubts.

Sounds like they are on the way to emulating Coles which no longer allows you to turn a e-gc into a physical one - so no longer able to access discounted petrol, officeworks etc etc.

no checkout issues with my 3 local stores, except strict on the 4/day/person rule

I just got back from my local Woolies (I live in Brisbane) and it has the new software update to the self serve. On top of this, I was told (after I'd scanned all my cards and other goods) that "you can't buy gift cards through the self service checkout anymore". The lady even tried her staff card to see if she could approve it, but she couldn't. I'm thinking that particular part of the functionality is based on store policy rather than the software update itself. I was made to go to the regular serviced checkout. The operator didn't mind me paying for the cards with my egift card, and the system allowed it to happen as well.

This is really annoying in terms of now I have to wait in line to get my gift cards... :(

Jetstar discounted again this week but it seems like no one has any interest in them?

Myer is being discounted next wednesday! Time to stock up for the inevitable iPhone purchase.

I didnt buy any jetstar vouchers becasue i stocked up for a years supply a few mont s ago.

First jetstar deal i had seen so i got a little excited

is it easy to use multiple cards in 1 booking?

Yep. Very easy. Easier than credit cards you only enter pin

That being said. On the actual jetstar website it said remaining credit forfeited while on the jetstar gift card website it said credit not forfeited.

I didnt take the risk. Luckily my flight was $10 above $100 increment so I paid for it via credit card

Bonus points offers here locally (and advertised in the weekly offers sheet) for Dymocks Jetstar and a few others.
1000 bonus points for $50 card. 2000 for $100.

Since I haven't been given any offers in a VERY LONG time I chose the $30 Dymocks card (600 bonus) which takes me over the 2000 needed for the QFF points.

Happy wandering

Fred

Has anyone noticed that their local Woolworth has replaced visa1 only gift cards to perfect eftops cards?

If this continues, maybe the loop has been closed..

Do you mean replaced visa1 with eftpos cards? I'm the other way round - I can't find any of the $100 eftpos cards at my local stores. lots of visa1 tho'

Has not been replaced. Perfect eftpos cards have always been there. I prefer the eftpos cards when using instore at places that don't take amex. Only1 solely for online.
I just bought only1s today to pay council rates.

These are different types of cards. Both have and continue to be available.

Went to pick up a couple of perfects and a jbhifi yesterday. Only realised when I was halfway through paying that one of the perfects was a DJ card. Hate it when people muddle up the cards on the racks
